INTRO TO THIS WEEK >>As the world is currently ever-changing, I am glad I am with Beth now living in her house, which is in the wilderness away from others. I am hearing more and more there will be wars and changes coming; here I feel safe here and can stay happy.
Our life and love are strong. I did not expect I would meet and be with anyone while I was living and traveling in my van for five years. So, a great thing for both of us.
Being happy in life is a daily choice.
I’ve been up, I’ve been down.
I’m sure you have, too.
Hopefully the “ups” out-way the downs. When you find happiness in life the days seem to fly by; then you are anxious for the next day when you can continue to find the happiness you are after.
I’ve found that when I am down and feeling like giving up, I remember that things will be good again in not too long of a time. When I am up and happy and on top of the world, I remember that I will be back down again. Balance is the key. If you can live in this mentality you will never be depressed again.
There are three main objectives to find happiness in life >>
-
Find something to do.
(I found juggling, writing, making salsa) -
Discover love.
(I’ve connected with special people, brought smiles to others, Beth) -
Something to hope for, it can be something simple and small.
(I’ve found a home where I can make improvements daily.)
If you can enjoy the simple things that adds up to tremendous happiness overall. Make all the little things of your life joyful and life will be happy.
Slowing down and being happy with simple pleasures of life can help reduce stress and increase your happiness. Incorporating simple pleasures can include things like singing, juggling, dancing, listening to music, reading, taking a walk, or doing something artsy.
Participating in these types of activities causes the release of endorphins, the feel-good chemicals your own body produces, and provides positive psychological effects, which can be calming yet energizing and bring you joy.
Charles Dickens once wrote:
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it for others.”
I hope my words do that for you.********************
WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU! >>Inspirational quotes and motivational sayings have an amazing ability to change the way we feel about life and can change our thinking.
This is why I find them so interesting, challenging, and important on our path to joy and happiness and finding ways to inspire ourselves as well as others.
Inspirational quotes and ideas provide us with a quick and timely burst of wisdom to get our focus back, offering the inspiration needed for the day or occasion.
I hope to inspire you with my words.
Words have power.
At any age, you can (and should)
make changes to make your life better. You see, the way you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible for you, determines everything that happens in your life. It all derives from your quality of thinking.
When you improve the quality of your thinking,
you change the quality of your life—
sometimes instantly!Just as positive words can make someone smile, and/or, a well-timed amusing quote can make someone laugh, your own thoughts react to the world in real-time. You have this control!
In fact, you have complete control over only one thing in the universe — your thinking — and that’s where motivational quotes come in!
To keep your motivation, you have to use each day as an opportunity for improvement, to be better, to get a little bit closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work—and with your busy schedule—next to impossible. But you can do it!
Self-talk is so important—THINK RIGHT!
Motivational words, yes, they’re just words.
But they’re positive words; they will keep you on track.I hope these words I pick do help you.

BE INSPIRED BY THESE WORDS >>
From my book series, “Beyond Your Potential”What do success and happiness mean to you?
Success means different things to different people. For many people, success can mean mansions, private jets, limos, and trips to exotic islands any time they want. To others, success is having a healthy baby. To some it might mean being able to juggle five balls. Still, to others, success is a good job. It is not what you get that makes you successful. It is what you are continuing to do with what you’ve got. Real success is working toward a worthy ideal, for your benefit and also for the benefit of others – rather than at their expense.
You WILL be triumphant if you:
Keep things natural.
Challenge yourself.
Take the time to juggle.
Make rational, educated choices.
Continue to make small perfections toward everything.
Make decisions quickly and then keep following through.
Measure and record your progress.
Stop now and then to enjoy nature and the outdoors.
Drink more water, eat more salads.
Juggle some more.
Get outside to walk or exercise on a daily basis.
Do something nice for your friend.
Spend your time around like-minded people.
Stay positive and learn from mistakes.
Keep juggling.
Praise others for their success.
Don’t have concerns about making everything picture perfect.
Decide and take action—NOW!
Be busy toward advancement, not wasting time.
SMILE!—you’re making it.
Be that success!
What would you do if you knew you could not fail at something? This is a question that you have to ask yourself when you are hesitant about doing something that you know you can and should do. Asking yourself this question will trigger positive energy within you to accomplish your desire. I believe you would not be this far along reading this book if you were not a person that wanted to succeed in life. Success comes to those who are conscious of success. The only thing you have to give up to get what you want is the idea that you cannot have it. Now, become that success that you know you are and report back to me with progress. Please, let me know how things are turning out, my friend.WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS, YOU CAN OVERCOME ANYTHING.
At any age, you can make the change and aim your life anew.
Now, it’s time to get out there and do something incredible that you can rejoice in!********************
MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>10/22—Every once in a while I have to make a run down to Augusta, GA to go to Costco and a few other places. Today I sent Beth a note around 11am while down there. Then I did not contact Beth again until I returned at about 4pm.
When I returned she was waiting on the front porch for me. She was quite worried that I did not answer her calls; she thought something bad might have happened to me, an accident, perhaps. I do not keep my cell phone with me. She had called Costco, she got a hold of Home Depot, she could not find me.
As I calmed her down I let her know that when I was out I could connect with her more often.
10/23—Found out today that yesterday my friend, Peter Scolari, died from cancer.
You might know him from when he was a star on “Bosom Buddies.”
You might know him from when he was featured on “The Newhart Show”.He will be missed by all of his fans and family.
Peter, being a juggler, was my friend. We first met in the 80s when I came up to see a taping of Bosom Buddies.
He was working toward getting a TV movie produced in the 1980s about my first accident and recovery. It ended up that networks were not buying scripts like that at that time.
At one point he was co-hosting the national talk show up in Los Angeles (I was living in San Diego.) This show was called Hour Magazine, with host Gary Collins. I appeared on the show as Peter and I juggled.
Here is Peter and his son juggling–enjoy >>

Peter will be missed by many. His death reminded me that the same is coming to me—AND YOU TOO. Are you accomplishing all you want to, or need to, before the end?
10/24—This evening Beth and I went to Abbeville to attend their annual Ghost Tour. A guide took about 20 of us on a historical tour of the area. We saw houses and churches in which people say they have seen ghosts.
I asked this person who took us around if she ever saw a ghost, she told me she does not believe in ghosts. Strange for someone who talks so much about them.
What got me was she said she attends church weekly at one of the churches we saw. How can she not believe in ghosts, yet she believes in a god. To me, it is the same thing. I still have trouble seeing how people believe in a god.
Here is a video of one of the churches we witnessed >>

https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1841162365929689One unenviable thing occurred today.
It came on suddenly.
I had no control.
A fart was produced from me all of a sudden.
Beth, being embarrassed, quickly walked away.
She later told me that she thought she was going to burst out laughing.
Some people giggled near me.
Myself, I did not care.
It is a natural human emotion that I had to release.10/26—We watched the movie, The Upside, today. This film is based on a true story about a paraplegic man. An interesting film. That was the major thing that occurred today.
Enjoy >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt1EEV-Szu4
10-27—I feel like I need to make something happen daily to write about. Of course, that can’t occur every day. So, I am writing you events that might be of interest? I almost feel like I am cheating you by not being out in the wilderness or at the beach to write—but that is life.
Right now I am sitting on our front porch typing in 66 degrees and a bright sunny day. We are remaining home most of the day. I try to always live my life as an adventure, not knowing what is around the next bend.
Many people like the structured life—knowing what, exactly is coming next. I have never liked or been able to life that way. How about you, do you make your life your own wild adventure?
10/28—The rains came and were here most of the day.
10/29—Slept in this morning, awakening about 4am. I do not sleep much, when I get more sleep I am tired during that day.
I would love to hear from you!

INTRO TO THIS WEEK >>Charles Dickens once wrote:
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it for others.”
I hope my words do that for you.I’ve been thinking a lot about joy lately, and how it’s so easy to look for it in the wrong places, such as an expensive toy, flamboyant trip, or a “perfect” situation. Joy can be found in the littlest of things. Myself, going through getting hit by two different trucks and other bad things, I have striven to find joy.
Having joy is a constant choice.
Either we chose to live with joy and happiness,
or we chose to live with sadness and depression.
Always chose right.Joy is all around us, we simply need to take the time to discover it and bring it into our life. The following can bring you joy >>
Smile for no reason.
Help someone else because you can.
Buy a meal for someone who is down on their luck. The joy I have in my new relationship with Beth is fantastic. We are both the age of 63 and like many of the same things. I thought I would live the rest of my life as a solo human traveling the world. Now I can be with the one I love to the end of my days.
In reality, sources of joy are around us all the time; the key is seeing them and giving them the same attention we tend to give our problems and stressors. The main thing about joy is you are the one to make your mind find the joy that is always there.
For many people, the journey to achieve and enjoy joy is ongoing; a constant search. But while deep happiness and satisfaction may take a while to acquire and recognize, felicity also arises in a more spontaneous version: JOY.
Joy is all around us.
Joy feels good.
Joy is happiness.
Joy connects us to life’s everyday richness, and strength to them that iGoGodnvestigate our ability to experience enduring contentment.Joy is a transient spark and guidepost found in simple and surprising places. Many kinds of small exchanges and little things can make us feel happy, free, lifted, and joyful. If you can make all the little things in your life joyful—that’s what you will have!
A surge of bright joy might fill our hearts when we hear a favorite song, catch a glimpse of a firefly’s ethereal glow, perform that juggling trick we have been working on, taste delicious food, or laugh with a loved one. Noticing and experiencing joy in our daily lives is an enlivening, fun, and illuminating practice.
Some say individual moments of joy are actually the substance of the abiding happiness we seek.
Over time, acknowledging and savoring the joy we find in the little things can help us build a happy, carefree, and full life. It’s up to you—celebrate the simple sources of joy.

MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>10/15—Just posted this week’s blog. After, Beth and I were traveling to https://www.mettsorganix.farm/
about me possibly selling my salsa there. Suddenly the front/passenger tire blew. We pulled over and I knew what I had to do.It’s been many years, but I still had the skill to change the tire. I’ve had a few flats, but it was just too easy to call AAA for help, so I did.
It actually went smooth and we were soon on the road again.
10/16—The next day, with Beth’s car, that spare I put on also went bad, but Beth was in town and right near McCormick Tire and Oil. She knows the owner, Matt, from when she used to work at the library, so he took care of her.
10/17—There are many trees and forests in the area which contain many trees. So, that is how we will heat the house this winter. I started gathering up wood for future fires. Quite and easy to collect, the dead wood will heat our house, much.
As you might know, the cost of heating has gone up more and more, so, this is a great way to save money that would have gone to a heating company.
Currently, we are both on the large front porch working on our laptops. The weather is clear and about 80 degrees f, very nice. Where we are living is kind of out of the way and off track. I like that, with all the changes that are happening in the world I feel safe hidden away here.
10/18—Today we went to the local Farmer’s Market to purchase. Hardly anyone there, hard to see how they can stay in business. The eggs, both duck and chicken, are way above normal store bought eggs.
Beth’s dog, Jemma, has mainly been a house dog and has not gotten out much. I am trying to spur on Beth to open her to more of the world. She loved being out and seeing/experiencing new things.
10/19—Performance day! Again for very young ones. They seemed to really like my juggling and magic. I did not tell them my background and story. I do like performing and want to get back to it.
10/20—I had ordered more copies of my book, “Beyond Your Potential: Accident”. I gave a copy to the UPS guy, Willie, he thanked me. I would like to get more copies out there, do you have a copy yet? This book is packed full of ideas to help you advance in your life.
10/21—Living out here in the country wilderness, every so often we need to get to the big city (Augusta, GA) to go to Costco, Walmart, and Home Depot; today was one of those days.
I moved my site, summerssalsa.com, from the host I had it with, dreamhost.com. I was only paying $17 bucks a year to host, but, free with Google sites, I did the change. Since I no longer have my salsa company after getting hit by that second truck, I like free much better. Have you seen >> https://sites.google.com/site/summerssalsa/
I often awake early and the cats were hungry at 3am, I put some food out for them. There is a family of raccoons who are in the area and like cat food. The cats had eaten some, then the big raccoons showed up.
I kept opening the door to scare them away, then finally brought the tray of food in. I read that raccoons do not like pepper or hot spice, I may put some out to keep them away. Do you have any ideas on this?
10/22—Awoke this morning at my common time, around 2 am. My mind just clicks on and it’s like I have no control over it. I got on my computer to do what I do.
Today I bought an electric chain saw to cut wood for the fire; it is working excellent! I had collected a lot of wood, so it is working out very well. Living in a forest, there is plenty of dead trees and wood to last up many years.
Speaking of wildlife, yesterday Beth saw a large fox skipping by. I was out and didn’t see it, she could not get to her camera in time. Sounds like a great thing to see.
Also, we found another dead baby snake in the yard, yes, the cats like to play with the little worm-like creatures and make the snake a snack. Snakes do their rectilinear locomotion well, have you seen?
I would love to hear from you!

I had to be persistent and squeeze time to get the most out of the time I had. None of us can make time or manage time or control time. Time is time – no controlling it – at all.Time-Management?In this section, I am stressing to use time efficiently. This does not mean keeping your toes (or nose) to the grindstone and never take a break. You will read suggestions on how to use your time more efficiently. The idea of time management is a parable. You control the situation, you do not control the time. You cannot manage time, but you can decide how you would like to use the time that you use. You have control of your own time, don’t let it take control of you. Yes, you have all the time in the world – use it wisely. As I am typing these words, I am sitting comfortably on my deck. I see the birds at the bird feeder, I hear the gentle breeze blowing, and I feel the warmth of the sun on my skin. Is this work? You make your time where, when, and how you want to. Why not spend time wisely on the best-quality life possible? You have that choice. Time management is simply a series of ways to live life more deliberately. You are Getting Very Sleepy . . .An average person spends 20 years of life asleep. I spent more than a month in a coma, which was enough for me. As we get up in age, we need less and less sleep. Last night I got four hours and am functioning fine. Sleep as often and as long as your mind and body need to, but don’t overdo it.Too Much?So many people waste their life away sleeping too much. We have so much to accomplish in life, we don’t have time for too much sleep. What is tiredness anyway? Is being tired sleepiness? Then take a nap.Is it not having the energy to do something?Set your mind to get the energy.I think often it is just laziness. You can control your energy output. Many people use tiredness as an escape to get out of life for a while.Track Your DoingsStart a personal log of how you spend your time. It’s an immensely powerful way to bring awareness to your daily routines and how you spend your day. The simple act of logging your behavior will dramatically alter your life! Do this for a week or two, minute by minute, and you can see exactly how you spend your time and see where you can make more time.Start With the Things You Don’t Want To DoThere are many things you do not want to do in your life, yet, they must be done. When you have many things to do during your day at work, home, or wherever, tackle the toughest, most challenging things first. Start with the things that you want to put off until later.StartOnce these projects are out of the way, you can get to the more pleasant things that need to be done. That way you are always looking forward to the upcoming tasks that you like more. Do this and get more accomplished in your life, faster, and be more pleased.WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS, YOU CAN OVERCOME ANYTHING.=========================MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>10/9—Today included an excursion to Hawe Creek Campground area. Every so often Beth and I need our fix of the wilderness. This was closed for the winter (don’t know why, there will be no snow, and stays somewhat warm.) Take a look, a fabulous place–Today there happened to be a bass fishing tournament going on. So, many trucks with boat trailers are parked here. There were dead fish we spotted in the water. We were told that there are Egrets and Eagles who swoop down and make a meal out of them.We brought Jemma the dog along, who had a wonderful timeBeth’s pooch has mainly spent her life at home, getting out and meeting people is new. Beth worries that she might bite someone, but I think she does fine amongst humans.
Dinner was a delight at a Mexican Restaurant with our friends Val and Jeff Watt. After, Beth and I stopped by an ice cream parlor in the middle of nowhere, where Beth treated both of us to double scoops of the delicious cold stuff.Out in the wilderness, we came upon many different kinds of mushrooms. I thought I might just eat one to know if it is poisonous or not, but decided this would not be the best way to find out. Also, we discovered a stick that was walking! Or, as it is normally called, a Walking Stick. Very slow and precise in their movements (how you should be?), it was interesting to see. Have you seen a Walking Stick? Take a look,We also saw a bug that was praying, as in Mantis.10/11-12—Visited Catfish Bay Boat Ramp today. As we were entering the parking lot we saw overhead a HUGE GOLDEN EAGLE that flew low right over the top of our car! Beth saw where it perched, but it was too far away for a good photo. So great to be out in nature! I suggest again for you, try and get out to local parks, forests and oceans as often as you can, it will add to your life in a good way.We returned the next day to try and spy the eagle again, but, sadly, that did not happen, he flew the coup. Jemma came along with us this time, she likes the wilderness, too.On the way back we also stopped by Parksville Recreation Area, another nice place. You will witness some huge motor homes. Is staying in something like that really camping? On the way home, we stopped at the library at which Beth used to work and where we met and started our wonderful relationship.10/13-14—A couple of cooking and lazy days. On Wednesday I made some of my famous salsa, as well as a batch of my Japanese Salad Sauce. Then made some of my homemade noodles with our new pasta machine. If you want the recipes for anything I make let me know, I will send them to you.Eating is such a big part of life. I learned some time ago to not just scarf food down. After you take a small bite, put your spoon or fork down and chew the current mouthful completely before the next bite. Examine the taste and texture in detail. If you eat in this manner you will have a new surprise each time you have a meal. Also, you will eat less. experience the delicateness of what you are eating. As you are chewing experience the taste and texture of each morsel.10/15—Each morning the horses who live in the field across from us seem to gather and wait for us to come and feed them. Carrots, apples, and such, they love it. We just have to be careful that they don’t munch on our fingers while feeding them.I would love to hear from you!Either through Facebook or email – kitsummers@gmail.com=========================MY CHALLENGE FOR YOU THIS WEEK >>This week keep track of your eating habits.• Are you eating healthy?• Are you eating too much?• Are you eating at restaurants too often?Keep a written record of everything that enters your mouth this week. Reread what I wrote earlier about making each meal and mouthful a delightful experience. Eating is such a big part of life, but keep track of what you consume.=========================NEXT BLOG>>Winter is here, are you prepared?Next week I will be presenting for youngsters at a school, you will hear about that. INTRO TO THIS WEEK >>As you know, for about five years I lived in my van traveling all over the US mainly going to National Parks and wilderness areas. I love that lifestyle.
Yet, at the McCormick Library in South Carolina, I met Beth, who worked there. We slowly grew in love and caring for each other. She is five months older than me, so we are both the same age at 63.
To find a life partner at an older age is fantastic! Beth and I will be together until our death, perhaps 42 years from now?
Two happy people in love!
As you know from my past writings, I have been very lonely in my life living in my van while driving to National Parks and Wilderness Areas. I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog posts over the years.
At Beth’s home, I have been making many improvements, as you see in the photos. How is your abode?
Do you live in magnificence?
This is something you could do, yes? Here I put the new floor down, added the red, and built the shelf.
You might call it lazy, I’ve decided to reestablish my beard. Because my facial hair grows so quickly, I usually shave twice a day. When I have a beard, I only trim it about once a week. I know that the “common” look is a clean face. If you know me, you know that I never follow the “normal” ways.
Are there changes you need to make to add to and have a better life? Today, now, is the time to reach for excellence as you can.
No traveling this week, I hope the words I have included inspire you toward the excellence that you possess!

WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU! >>Inspirational quotes and motivational sayings have an amazing ability to change the way we feel about life and can change our thinking.
This is why I find them so interesting, challenging, and important on our path to joy and happiness and finding ways to inspire ourselves.
Inspirational quotes and ideas provide us with a quick and timely burst of wisdom to get our focus back, offering the inspiration needed for the day or occasion.
I hope to inspire you with my words.
Words have power.
At any age, you can (and should) make changes to make your life better. You see, the way you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible for you, determines everything that happens in your life. It all derives from your quality of thinking.
When you improve the quality of your thinking, you change the quality of your life—sometimes instantly!
Just as positive words can make someone smile, and/or, a well-timed amusing quote can make someone laugh, your own thoughts react to the world in real-time.
But they’re positive words; they will keep you on track.I hope the words I pick do help you.

MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>10/1—Back to painting on the house. I choose bright happy colors, someone recently saw my work and mentioned they were the colors of McDonald’s. I agreed, it is looking good, though. I think Ronald would agree.
This day I got up and did some free painting. Standing on the roof just depending on my feet to support me. I was deliberately slow and careful; quite scary it was. I got the red painted and will do the black and yellow tomorrow.
10/2—Back up I went, but this time I used a rope around my waist and tied to the house to help provide confidence. Now if I were to slip I would just go down to the roof. Feel much better about the work I am doing.
Who would ever imagine, a man who once went through a 37-day coma and had to learn to walk again would be up on the roof accomplishing the paint job.
I just have to say, there is much more you are capable of and can do – apply yourself to tasks you think are beyond you, you will be surprised at what you can accomplish. Stay safe and careful always, though.
The front porch and chairs were another project.
I would love to hear from you!
