OPENING WORDS

Hmm, it doesn’t seem like I am getting older, but, of course, I am. In my mind, I remain playful and fun; it’s a great state of mind to be in. It’s raining all week, I didn’t expect that. Yet, I’ve been jumping out of my bed each day in a happy mood, and I believe it’s helping.

But I’ve lost my freedom. I can’t imagine not being with a female again, looks like, if I stay here, that could occur. And not driving again is unimaginable, but that might happen. It’s starting to feel like I am back in jail. I found out today that they no longer want me to drive. And, I cannot even go out and walk around the area. I would like to have a bike to go out, but even that would be limited. I dislike being here for those reasons.

I became friends with Gabriel Farfan, who works here at NeuroRestorative. He told me he would talk with the people in charge and try and get me out more. That was good to hear.

Maybe I will just have to find a car for sale and secretly take off. Bye-bye.

WELCOME THE PRESENT MOMENT- EVERY SINGLE INSTANT!

BLOG 333–As We Age

When we’re younger, time tends to feel as if it drags on forever. Remember those long, lazy summers that seemed never-ending, or how it could feel like an eternity watching the clock tick away and waiting for the final school bell to ring. Now you are older, compare the two.

Yet, as we grow older, many of us feel that time is moving more quickly, and we want to slow it down. This curious occurrence has nothing to do with any change in the measurement of time, of course; a minute today is the same length it was 50 years ago.

As we age, our bodies and minds undergo a range of natural changes. These changes can include physical transformations, such as wrinkles, graying hair, and a decrease in muscle mass, as well as cognitive shifts, including slower processing speeds and potential memory decline. However, aging also brings increased emotional maturity and wisdom.

I’ve always kept a young state of mind.
I think it has kept me happy over the years.
You must find that, too.

According to some scientific theories, this sensation is related to how our brains process the experiences around us, which changes as we age. This leads to a feeling of a rapidly increasing pace of life. Let’s take a look at some potential explanations for this odd yet seemingly universal experience.

Where you put your focus determines your future.
If you focus on the past, fear controls you.
If you focus on the future, anxiety consumes you.
IF YOU FOCUS ON THE PRESENT, YOU WILL LIVE A BETTER LIFE.
If you focus on others, they dictate your future.
If you focus on the hurt, you will continue to suffer.
If you focus on the lessons, you will continue to grow and develop.
Where you place your focus shapes your reality and destiny.
Time moves on regardless; attention is what gives it meaning.
Your mindset determines all.

Across the board, people’s perception of time appears to slow down when they are presented with greater amounts of new and complex information. It is suggested that our brains require extra time to process strange experiences, resulting in a feeling of time essentially moving in slow motion.

When we are young, our days are filled with first-time experiences of life, which present complex and often novel information that our brains work hard to process. There are countless new lessons to learn, new locations to explore, and new sensations to feel.

Yes, you are getting older.
The key to your future is to think younger.
It is how you apply your mind to life and future events.

When we’re younger, it takes time for our brains to discover and process all the sights and sounds we’ve never experienced before. This overwhelming flood of knowledge may contribute to the sensation of time moving more slowly.

As we grow older, however, we often find ourselves falling into familiar routines. Days, weeks, months, or even years can pass without our lives changing significantly. Our brains aren’t working as hard each day to process and analyze these new experiences, so time can feel like it’s moving faster and faster.

YES–YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY!

As people age, their bodies undergo a range of natural and progressive changes. These include decreases in physical and mental capacity, increased susceptibility to certain health conditions, and changes in physical appearance and bodily functions. Many of these changes are normal parts of aging, while others can indicate underlying health issues that require attention.

This is all just a vision, of course, as some older people may actively seek out stimulating activities that keep their brain active and, therefore, help to “slow things down.” Yet, time tends to blend more as we age, when it isn’t broken up by fresh, original experiences as frequently as it was in our younger years; remember the first time you rode a bike?

Even if you try to seek out challenging new experiences as you age, your perception of time will likely still be affected by the inevitable changes to your body and brain. These changes mean that time takes longer for signals to traverse your nervous system and reach the brain, so your body is unable to process details as efficiently as your brain did when you were younger.

You see, younger people are physically capable of processing more mental images than their older counterparts, whose brains function less efficiently as they age. Do you recall your childhood? Childhood to 100 years, here I go. As you know, I want to live beyond the age of 100, so 34 years to go. I can’t imagine staying here at NeuroRestorative, but time will tell.

Let’s say there’s a 15-year-old and a 65-year-old who are both witnesses to the same experience for one hour. When looking back, the teenager will likely recount better memories than the adult, given the brain’s capabilities. The adult should remember finer things. But remember, it’s how we focus.

An older person, on the other hand, may remember fewer details, and so it may seem like that time flew by. In other words, younger people recall memories as if they were watching slow-motion footage, which allows them to look at every minor detail. However, adults may overlook certain aspects of this.

Another way to perceive time as speeding up is through the concept of proportional theory. This theory suggests that our perception of time is related to the amount of time we’ve already experienced. Younger people have been alive for less time, so each new experience seems more substantial in comparison.

Think in young ways, young thoughts, and you will remain younger,

ALL YOU HAVE IS NOW!
MAKE THINGS FANTASTIC!

WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU!
Inspirational quotes and sayings have a unique ability to change the way we feel about life and can change our thoughts. They are attractive, challenging, and essential on our path to joy and happiness, as well as finding ways to inspire ourselves and others.

READ
Reading through the quotes below about life can do the trick if you’re looking for a pick-me-up or a healthy dose of motivation. Whether centered around positive affirmations, self-care, or success, life quotes can be powerful inspirational tools.

THE BURST!
Inspirational quotes and ideas provide a quick and timely burst of wisdom to help us regain our focus, offering the inspiration needed for the day or occasion. I hope the words below bring a smile to your face and drive you to make this day and every day a fantastic event.

BE POSITIVE!
Just as positive words can make someone smile, and a well-timed, amusing quote can make someone laugh, your thoughts react to real life. Have this control! You have complete control over only one thing in the universe—YOUR THINKING!—and that’s where motivational quotes come in!

“YOU”
Your quality of thinking and how you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible, determine everything in your life. Use quotes to move ahead in your life.

SELF-TALK IS SO ESSENTIAL—THINK RIGHT!
To stay motivated, use each day as an opportunity to improve and move closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work, and it’s next to impossible with your busy schedule. But you can do it! Motivational words, yes, are just words. But they are positive words; they will keep you on track.

QUOTES
Motivational quotes impact our brain, behavior, and lives because they make us feel like we are in control of our success and have a sense of self-efficacy. Quotes make us believe that we have the confidence to complete a task successfully, which is different from having the motivation to succeed.

QUOTES WILL BENEFIT YOU!
Positive and inspiring quotes can be like sunshine on a cloudy day. They inject optimism into our thoughts, brighten our mood, and help us focus on the good in life. They remind us that even in the face of adversity, we can see the silver lining and embrace a positive attitude.

PEARLS OF WISDOM
In a world filled with challenges and indecisiveness, the power of inspirational quotes cannot be exaggerated. These pearls of wisdom uniquely uplift our spirits, can spark positive change, and fuel our motivation when we need it most.

WORDS WILL CHANGE YOU!
The correct motivational quote can transform you and your perspective, helping you overcome excuses, step out of your comfort zone, and take action. Read these words with an open mind and learn to improve your life.

THESE QUOTES
When you read these quotes, you’ll also realize that many other people worldwide are experiencing these feelings. These feelings make you think you’re the only person who could feel this bad. But you’re not. Many other people also feel bad. This is the irony of it. You don’t want other people to feel crappy, but it does make you feel better, or at least comforted to know that other people feel just as bad as you.

READ CAREFULLY
These quotes can be used when you wake up or prepare for work.
You can write your favorite quotes somewhere where you can see them as soon as you wake up.
These quotes are motivating, inspiring, and encouraging.
They will help you see your potential, stay motivated, and see the beauty in every morning.
Use them to your advantage!

I HOPE THE FOLLOWING WORDS
INSPIRE YOU AND ADD TO YOUR LIFE >>

Inspirational age quotes often highlight the positive aspects of growing older, emphasizing wisdom, opportunity, and continued growth rather than focusing on decline.

“The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes.”
Frank Lloyd Wright

“There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.”
Sophia Loren

“In the central place of every heart, there is a recording chamber.  So long as it receives a message of beauty, hope, cheer, and courage, so long are you young.  When the wires are all down and our heart is covered with the snow of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and only then, are you grown old.”
Douglas MacArthur

“For the unlearned, old age is winter; for the learned, it is the season of the harvest.”
Hasidic saying

“Every year should teach you something valuable; whether you get the lesson is up to you. Every year brings you closer to expressing your whole and healed self.”
Oprah Winfrey

“One of the reasons people get old—lose their aliveness—is that they get weighed down by all of their stuff.”
Richard Leider

“Age is an issue of mind over matter.
If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

Mark Twain

“I suppose real old age begins when one looks backward rather than forward.”
Mary Sarton

“Of all the self-fulfilling prophecies in our culture the assumption that aging means decline and poor health is probably the deadliest.”
Marilyn Ferguson

“Age is no barrier.
It’s a limitation you put on your mind.”
Jackie Joyner-Kersee

“Your 40s are good.
Your 50s are great.
Your 60s are fab.
And 70 is f*@king awesome!”
Helen Mirren

“Know that you are the perfect age. Each year is special and precious, for you shall only live it once. Be comfortable with growing older.”
Louise Hay

“Oh, the worst of all tragedies is not to die young, but to live until I am seventy-five and yet not ever truly to have lived.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

“You don’t stop laughing when you grow old, you grow old when you stop laughing.”
George Bernard Shaw

“I believe the second half of one’s life is meant to be better than the first half. The first half involves discovering how to do it. And the second half is enjoying it.”
Frances Lear

“We are not victims of aging, sickness, and death. These are part of the scenery, not the seer, who is immune to any form of change. This seer is the spirit, the expression of eternal being.”
Deepak Chopra

“Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old.”
Franz Kafka

“To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth.”
Pearl S. Buck

MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
Each week goes by so quickly.
It seems that time is passing more quickly.
You must live joyfully, daily, for each day!

Do you know what you did last Monday?
Do you remember what you ate for dinner last Thursday?
Keep track of your doings for a few weeks; you will see your time differently.
Remember, the quality of your life depends on what you do each day, in every moment.

7/12–Today is a Saturday, and things are very slow around here. There are few staff members available, and nothing is happening. Stayed in my room most of the day and practiced my juggling over the bed. When you practice over a bed, you don’t have to reach the floor for a dropped ball.

7/13–Today, being Sunday, is even slower than yesterday. I’m not sure if I like this. I worked on my juggling again and watched some YouTube videos.
I discovered that Jesse, with whom I had been communicating, was a scam after all. So sad.
I am so lonely out here.

7/14-15–Nothing special happened on these two days, sorry.

7/16–Went to see Jurassic World: Rebirth. This film had no good happenings in it. Death and destruction, that’s all I saw. So, not enjoyable to see. Neuro Restorative did pay for all of us to see the movie, along with a drink and popcorn.

Seven patients, along with four staff, went. They have two large vans to carry people, and they were filled up. Here is the movie>>
https://www.regmovies.com/movies/jurassic-world-rebirth-ho00017219
So, not a good film, don’t waste your time going.

Right now it is about 6:20 in the evening. The wind and rain are coming on strong. There are palm trees outside both of the windows in the bedroom. So lovely to see the storm take them. It looks spectacular to see.

7/17–Bingo, the game, if you can believe it. This is particularly beneficial for patients with head injuries who experience slow recovery. I helped the people on each side of me to keep up. One girl seems almost like she is still comatose. I’m sorry to hear. Her mind is slowly coming back, though.

It’s so sad to see these people slowly returning from their time away while they were in comas. I remember, at first, I just wanted to sleep all the time. Eventually, I came back strong and wanted to continually improve, as I do now. The other people here do not seem to be as far along and ahead as I am.
   mmmmmmmmm
I just attended a meeting with six people from here, and my daughter, April, was linked in. The main news I gathered was that I was doing well here, but I can no longer drive. That is a limitation that needs to change.

For many years, that was my whole life — living and traveling in my van. I must hear a good reason not to, or I will just get a car and go. I hate the idea of depending on others for my mobility. I will have to discover if there are any exercises that could help me. It just doesn’t seem fair.

7/18–I was just out to get breakfast in the cafeteria. The meals are prepared on the first floor, while I am located on the third floor. There were four other people there, awaiting breakfast. I tried to talk to a couple of them, but I found silence. It seems that my mind is more together than most, so I struggle to form any friendships, which is sad.

Last night, I went to sleep around 10 pm. Someone came into the room around midnight, as they always do, to check on things. They were too noisy and woke me up. I had trouble getting to sleep and didn’t until about 2 a.m. Then awake again at 4am, up for the day I am.

MAKE THIS DAY GREAT FOR YOU!
THEN, KEEP
DOING NEW (DAILY) FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

THE GARDEN THIS WEEK
I keep this section on gardening.
I do like the skill and hope you do, too.

Winter is here now.
But there are still things you can grow.
And remember about indoor gardening.

A self-supporting life can be a better life.
A garden would be a part of that life.
You must look into it!

Because I am back on the road.
There will be no more words about the garden.
I do hope Beth keeps it up.
We did a lot of work establishing our vegetable garden.

START YOUR GARDEN TODAY!
IT MAY BE NECESSARY FOR YOUR LIFE!

ALL OUR LIVES, WE MUST CHALLENGE OURSELVES!
