WHAT NEW STORIES ARE YOU READY TO WRITE?*******************
TOPIC FOR THIS WEEK — Your Home
Do you love where you currently reside? You can make changes to make your home environment fantastic! Starting with small things, you must overhaul your entire home to make it a paradise. Even with little money, you can make changes to make your home environment special.
Starting with growing things–plants are essential. Some may think that if you have a comfy bed and soft sheets, that’s all you need. Well, if you’re one of those people, then I have to say that this post is not for you. You just have to water plants at least twice a week.
Right now might be a great time to redesign your home and yard. Fall is bittersweet in gardening. While some of the most flavorful and delicious harvests of the year are happening now, it’s also time to face facts: if you’re in the northern hemisphere, days are getting shorter, and nights are getting colder.
All the flavor will just be a memory far too soon. But that’s okay because there are plenty of ways to keep the taste going during the cooler seasons. Many plants, including eatable plants, will grow in cold weather. Study and learn what you can plant in cold climates.
You can make wherever you live magnificent. Don’t just have a place to sleep each night; make this your paradise. Make your home nicer than the best hotels you have stayed at, somewhere you would most like to be.
Go to the street in front of your house and look back towards the house. You see this view so often; it must look fantastic! Start at the very front of your house. Get rid of anything that is not necessary; the first view must look splendid. Every time you look at the front of your home, you should see magnificence. Remember always to strive to make each detail splendid.
Paradise means something different to every person. Some people picture a porch overlooking the mountains while it’s snowing as paradise, while others picture a more conventional sunny beach with turquoise waters stretching out as far as the eye can see.
One thing you can do daily is to make your bed.
If you don’t have the time or money to travel to an exotic paradise destination this year, create your private paradise of tranquility in your house and yard. You might never have to leave your home again! You will find paradise with just a little landscaping, many plants, exotic framed pictures, flowery wallpapers, and a fun gallery wall of leaves.
Here are our top 10 suggestions for transforming your wonderful home and yard into an exotic destination. Make your home into your own personal paradise–your fantasy home!
1) Utilize many plants.
The secret to a lush, tropical paradise is having a lot of vegetation, such as plants, trees, and shrubs. Even better is to grow fruits and vegetables that you can eat. These are excellent for adding greenery, shade, and privacy, while smaller ground-covering plants add luxury to the space. Plant things that have different-colored greens.
***
2) Garden Time!
Create a miniature botanical garden around your living room, bedroom, and/or kitchen to observe the benefits of plants for a house. Plants look dreamlike; you can pair them with exotic artwork, wooden furniture, and earthy decor.
***
3) Add unique framed artwork.
Choose a statement-making framed image of anything lush and exotic. You’ll like how it looks on top of your bed in your bedroom or next to the coffee table in your living room. Choose a large picture with this theme; you’ll discover that it will instantly become the focal point of any space where you have the art.
***
4) Pick a fancy and lavish wallpaper.
Start by decorating a wall in your living room, bedroom, or kitchen with fancy wallpaper to give the impression that it is constantly a hot season there so that you don’t have to go out for some trip for this experience. Instead, it gives you a feel of a tropical jungle, combined with some other exotic patterns.
***
5) Select a vibrant print for your furnishings.
Anything in your fantasy house, including armchairs, pillows, covers, and curtains, may have a sweet, exotic print. You may combine them in different ways and place large plants around them, satisfying you and making you feel like a jungle like Tarzan or a paradise-like place where you also want or desire to be.
***
6) Include a Water Feature
The sound of running water instantly induces peace and tranquility. Water sounds are essential to a peaceful home, whether from a swimming pool, stream, or babbling brook. However, you don’t have to spend much on a pool; inexpensive water features like a birdbath or homemade fountain will do. Water pumps are affordable and will do you well.
***
7) Add stone elements
A stone path, planters made of stone, or stone walls can add a rustic and endearing touch to your paradisiacal landscape. Stone is a simple and inexpensive addition that adds charm. Covering stone with vegetation and ivy produces a softer, jungle-like effect, making your home an exotic paradise where you won’t feel bored or lonely.
***
8) Build-in Comfortable Seating
You choose your layout. Furniture of the highest comfort is necessary for your opulent private retreat—your home. You want to entertain your guests while unwinding in comfort. To fit in with your lush surroundings, chairs with high-quality materials and neutral hues can be a good choice. Get some tree trunks, cut and shape them, and use them for seats. You can often find these used for a reasonable price.
***
9) Install Gentle Lighting
Lanterns, string lighting, or illuminated paths can help you maintain tranquility and relaxation long after sunset. Lighting creates a delightful atmosphere and enables you to please guests at night—and it’s inexpensive.
***
10) Sound
Remember your hearing. Play sounds of waterfalls, crashing waves, and forest sounds. This will add to the ambiance and make your home breathtaking.
***
Your neighborhood plant store should have the most outstanding collection of plants and flowers. You might never want to go on vacation again if you have such a peaceful and lovely sanctuary in your home and backyard!
Remember about going verticle.
Go around your house and make adjustments to the smallest of things. Remember that less is more; your things must be used or a spender to see. While some people are going into productivity overdrive, others are taking time to quiet the noise and identify the significant parts of their lives.
You may want to look for used items to help improve your home. Look at eBay and Facebook Marketplace to find things. Spread the word with friends about what you are looking for, and you can find fabulous stuff. Always remember, a minimal look is best.
And think about how you can make the place you are at daily, the place you might have to be in more than you ever imagined, the best version for you. Go for magnificents! To all my fellow “high maintenance” folks, when you finally have a place (whether an apartment or an actual house), you want to feel like it’s your escape!
When you walk through your front door, you want to feel at peace and that all of the day’s stresses have finally faded. Your home should be your relaxing, happy spot.
AND THAT’S HOW IT SHOULD BE!
Even if you don’t have the grandest or most updated homes, it can still be transformed into your little slice of heaven. Say goodbye to the days when you could only relax by going to a spa for a few hours. Your home will relax you completely! Knowing where to start, you can get most of those serene, cool vibes in your home daily!
You know the feeling when you open the door at a hotel. You are treating yourself to splendor, to paradise. Your home should be more important than this idea of a motel. So, you can always have this joy of paradise! All your friends will be substantially impressed.
Here are eight easy tips for creating that sweet getaway of your dreams. Once you create this home escape, you may never want to leave, so make sure you do all of your errands before going home for the day.
1 Use Essential Oils (Or Candles)
2 Plants, Plants, and More Plants–include vegetables.
3 Downsize Your Junk (Less is MORE!)
4 Have Natural Light.
5 Pillows Are Your Friend. Not too many, though.
6 Brighten Up Your Décor
7 Make Your Bedroom Feel Like it is your personal paradise.
8 Set the Mood Whenever You Come Home.
I may be coming by soon for a visit.
So, start today to make your home a magnificent paradise where you can be yourself excellently!

WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU!
Inspirational quotes and sayings have a unique ability to change the way we feel about life and can change our thoughts. They are attractive, challenging, and essential on our path to joy and happiness and finding ways to inspire ourselves and others.
THE BURST!
Inspirational quotes and ideas give us a quick and timely burst of wisdom to regain our focus, offering the inspiration needed for the day or occasion. I hope the words below bring a smile to your face and drive you to make this day and every day a fantastic event.
BE POSITIVE!
Just as positive words can make someone smile, and a well-timed amusing quote can make someone laugh, your thoughts react to the world in real-time. Have this control! You have complete control over only one thing in the universe—YOUR THINKING!—and that’s where motivational quotes come in!
“YOU”
How you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible, determines everything in your life, and it all derives from your quality of thinking. Use quotes to move ahead in your life.
SELF-TALK IS SO ESSENTIAL—THINK RIGHT!
To stay motivated, you have to use each day as an opportunity to improve and get closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work—and with your busy schedule—next to impossible. But you can do it! Motivational words, yes, are just words. But they are positive words; they will keep you on track.
QUOTES WILL BENEFIT YOU!
Positive and inspiring quotes can be like sunshine on a cloudy day. They inject optimism into our thoughts, brighten our mood, and help us focus on the good in life. They remind us that even in the face of adversity, we can see the silver lining and embrace a positive attitude.
PEARLS OF WISDOM
In a world filled with challenges and indecisiveness, the power of inspirational quotes cannot be exaggerated. These pearls of wisdom uniquely uplift our spirits, can spark positive change, and fuel our motivation often when we need it most.
WORDS WILL CHANGE YOU!
The correct motivational quote can change you and things—helping you ditch the excuses, escape your comfort zone, and take action. Read these words with an open mind and learn to improve your life.
THESE QUOTES
When you read these quotes, you’ll also realize that many other people worldwide are experiencing these feelings. These feelings make you think you’re the only person who could feel this bad. But you’re not. Lots and lots of other people feel bad, too. This is the irony of it. You don’t want other people to feel crappy, but it does make you feel better or at least comforted to know that other people feel just as bad as you.================

MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
Each week goes by so quickly, don’t you think?
It seems like time is going by faster and faster.
You must live joyfully, daily, for each day!
Do you know what you did last Monday?
Do you remember what you ate for dinner last Thursday?
Keep track of your doings for a few weeks; you will see your time differently.
Remember, the quality of your life depends on what you do each day.
10/26–I don’t like awakening at 12:30 am, but I could not go back to sleep again. Later, it was off to the local farmers’ market. There are many people there, some expensive vegetables. Some colorful tomatoes,
Cindy did her aerial fabric workout at the Circus Center, where about 11 people were doing the workout. Flying on fabric was developed in 1991 in France. Before this, a rope was used for flying; this skill is considerable in the circus centers I have seen.
Costco is somewhat close, so we picked up some items.
In the evening, we went here >> https://backcountrypizzaandtaphouse.info/
It’s some of the best pizza I have experienced.
10-27–Slept until about 3am; that’s a good sleep for me.
Cindy gets lessons on her Chello each week. I have seen advancement from her in time.
Cindy and I came up to a large mountain. There are many trails, many people here. Cindy went out for a walk, I remained in the vehicle. My stomach has been upset today so better I just sit here.
Cindy is out hiking, so I am voice typing using my phone. This is quite a better way to type than using my fingers as usual, so I might do more of this in the future.
This evening, we went to the juggling at Circus Center. I did my 3 club trick workshop and saw many jugglers advance. Also, I taught Cindy some skills, including juggling rings. With rings, the key is to catch the ring high, bring your arm down, and then bring it up to throw it. That gives you more time to do more rings.
10/28–Cindy quickly decided to fly to NYC, where her parents live. She is leaving today and will return on Thursday. She has some Circus Center events for which she has to be here.
10/29–I went to Costco and Walmart to get some things. Cindy is away until Wednesday afternoon, so I am cleaning up, reducing, and making her home look lavish.
10/30–I stayed alone at Cindy’s because she is in NYC now. Arriving this evening, she made a quick trip to see her parents, who are getting older. It was significant she was able to arrange this trip.
I’ve been writing and working on the blog; I hope you appreciate it.
10/31–Happy Halloween.
I hope I don’t scare myself.
Cindy and I had a mix-up, but we have sorted that out and are good once again.
Where will Kit go next?
I’m here at Cindy’s until the anniversary of the Circus Center on Nov 16.
Maybe I will head toward Florida after that.
I don’t know.
How about you?
Can I visit you for a time?
I need a direction.
I am scared (or, should I say, excited.)
11/1–It was pretty cold last night, so I drove south. I was on my way to Texas, where it was warm. I’m back at Cindy’s now and will be helping her around the house and at https://bouldercircuscenter.net/DO SOMETHING NEW–DAILY!
THEN, KEEP DOING NEW FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!******************
THE GARDEN THIS WEEK
I keep this section about gardening in.
I do like the skill and hope you do, too.
Winter now, but there are still things you can grow.
And, remember about inside gardening.
A self-supportive life can be a better life.
A garden would be a part of that life.
You must look into it.
Because I am back on the road, there will be no more words about the garden.
I do hope Beth keeps it up.
I did a lot of work establishing our vegetable garden.
When I drove the van seven years ago,
I grew stuff under the sunroof windows on the top.
I may start that up my van garden again.
You will find out, of course.START YOUR GARDEN TODAY!
IT MAY BE NECESSARY FOR YOUR LIFE!******************
ALL OUR LIFE, WE MUST CHALLENGE OURSELVES!
YOUR CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK >>Examine your entire abode.
Make it look magnificent in look and feel.
Doing this will keep you happier.

WHAT NEW STORIES ARE YOU READY TO WRITE?
*******************
TOPIC FOR THIS WEEK — Grave Danger?
Danger?
Welcome it or run from it?
Are you afraid of danger?
Are you afraid of a grave?
Are you afraid of gravy?
“Grave danger” is an expression that refers to a situation that is very important and serious and/or a threat to your safety. For example, you might say, “This solo investigation puts him in grave danger.” The world has many dangers; remember that fear will get you nowhere.
I’ve covered the subject of death before. This intrigued me, so I had to write more words about our end time. What do you want to accomplish before your end? Start today, now, to work toward your efforts. Your end could come at any time.
Here are some other examples of “grave danger.”>>
“The future of the US countryside is in grave danger.”
“Human values seemed in grave danger of being crushed by forces by the great corporations.”
“There is a grave danger that, once again, this alarm call will fall on deaf ears.”
If someone close to you passes away, comfort and help other family members and friends. Talk about and remember the beautiful things this person did in their life. It’s sad, but we are all going down that path.
There are many dangers in the world. Accepting them, learning from them, and then moving forward is best. Fear will hold you back; work with things to make things better. Putting up a blockade for the upcoming danger can cause harm; work with it. Going through a grave danger can awaken you to life.
If a situation is grave, it is serious and sad, like when a loved one is sick. Grave can also refer to something that causes fear or anxiety, such as grave danger or a threat to your safety. If you feel that your life is in grave danger, you should try to use two-way communication, such as a phone or radio, to talk to emergency services.
Do you fear your upcoming death? Or are you comfortable knowing you will eventually expire? Accomplish and add to the world now before your end time. There are so many ways you can help the world. Discover ways to add to the Earth and other living things.
Dealing with death anxiety is a complicated process, whether you’re terminally ill or not. If you’re healthy or not, mortality is a complex issue. Face the fact that you are going to die. Nothing can stop that from happening — so get ready for it — with a smile on your face.
I was on death’s doorstep a few times in my life, yet I looked death in the face and said, “I don’t think so!” As I am getting older, I am seeing that death is coming, but I want to be alive until I get to the age of at least one hundred. Will you join me?
If the fear of death overwhelms you, seeking out standard treatments for anxiety, professional help, or learning healthy coping mechanisms can be your relief and control over these emotions. A counselor can help much; remember, they will die, too.
It’s so important to accept death because, while eternity sounds attractive, to be conscious that life is fleeting is to remind everyone that our time here is limited. And it’s the limit of something that we zero in on the most important and reject what’s just minor and does not mean anything.
Upon death, fluid can gather in your lungs, and breathing can begin to sound quite ‘rattly.’ You might cough, but not very profoundly. People’s skin color often changes in the days before death as blood circulation declines. You can become paler or even grey, or skin can become mottled or blotchy.
Death scares us all, and it’s likely that the people who say otherwise are lying. Death anxiety is natural. Religious, spiritual, or otherwise, we’ve all got questions about the big unknown and what happens after we die — that’s part of life.
Fear of death may be expected; however, being crippled or paralyzed by that fear is not normal — and not a good thing. Having anxiety about dying should not keep you from living to your fullest. Fear of death is a phobia, and like other phobias, this can vary. Fear of death or fear of mortality is easy to define: it’s the fear of the end of life. Most of us have gone through that.
Okay, if you’re saying that not wanting to die is a rational fear, you’re not wrong. But what about when it becomes irrational or when the fear becomes so intense and oppressive that it keeps you from enjoying the time you do have? That fear of death is something we don’t want — and it’s turned into anxiety about death.
Fear of death may affect us at any time. Still, it tends to receive the most attention from people around the age of 65, like me, who are approaching retirement age and beginning to reflect on their achievements, disappointments, and life trajectories.
People have asked me, “What will you tell God upon death?” Because I never believed in any god, I will simply say, “God, you know exactly what it would have taken to have me believe. I was provided with NOTHING. So, if I end up in hell–it is all god’s fault.
Fear of death is expected. Still, a fear of death is distinctively debilitating in people who are often overwhelmed by it and suffer from a mental health disorder like anxiety, panic disorder, depressive disorders, and hypochondriasis.
We don’t have a great picture of why some people experience crippling death anxiety and why others don’t; which are you? Still, there’s a fair amount of research showing that certain people are more likely to deal with the dread of death in their lifetimes. People who are retired, elderly, or terminally ill are common groups affected by the fear of death.
It’s easy to assume that this is because the fear of death may represent a more immediate and quantifiable “end” than for those who don’t expect that death is just around the corner. But death anxiety also tends to affect some people more severely, based on a variety of mental health factors.
Fear of death may strongly affect people who are experiencing mental disorders and/or who may be dealing with the following:
Poor health.
Lack of gravy.
Low self-esteem.
Lack of fighting spirit.
Absence of fulfillment.
Need for intimacy in relationships.
We have control over how we feel about our upcoming death. Right now, I am smiling as I write, knowing these words will, hopefully, add to your life in a good way. You only have this one life to live; find joy how you can now! This idea of joy should always be in your mind.
Fear of death can more adversely affect people who are depressed or anxious or who are dealing with unresolved problems, psychologically or physically. Interestingly, people near those who are elderly or terminally ill also can develop a fear of death more often.
Death scares us all; it scares me, too, and it’s likely that the people who say otherwise are lying. Death anxiety is natural. Religious, spiritual, or otherwise, we’ve all got questions about the big unknown and what happens after we die — that’s part of life.
As a nonbeliever, I believe that is just the end point of this “one” life we have on earth.
Help as many people as possible — NOW, while you still can.
Make the earth a better place for others — NOW, while you still can.
Tell others you love them — NOW, while you still can. (I LOVE YOU!)
If fear of death is expected, however, being crippled or paralyzed by that fear is not necessarily normal — nor a good thing. Having anxiety about dying should not keep you from living a great life. See the good in life and focus on that. Remember, it’s what you focus on that’s important!
Fear of death or mortality is easy to define: it’s the fear of the end of life. Although fear of death may affect us at any time, it tends to receive the most attention from people around age 65 (yikes, I’m 65 now!) who are approaching retirement age and beginning to reflect on their achievements, disappointments, and life flow.
Fear of death is expected. Still, a fear of death is often more debilitating in people who are overwhelmed by death and suffer from a mental health disorder like anxiety and depressive disorders. There’s a fair amount of research showing that certain people are more likely to deal with the dread of death in their lifetimes.
After I die, I want all my usable organs to go to people who need them. The rest of my body can be put out in a forest for rodents and bugs to consume the rest of me. I do not want any of me to be wasted; I want to help the world. And, to waste a part of the earth to bury me is Ludacris in my mind.
Of course, like most people, I have thought about suicide and what it would mean. It would be the easy way out. I hate to say, the lazy way out.
People who are elderly, retired, or terminally ill are often affected by the fear of death. It’s fair to assume that this is because, for these people, the fear of death may represent a more acute, immediate, and quantifiable “end” than for those who don’t expect that death is just around the corner.
But death anxiety also tends to affect some people more severely than others. Based on thinking and a variety of mental health factors. Fear of death may more intensely affect people who are experiencing mental disorders or who may be dealing with a future they question.

“YOU”
How you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible, determines everything in your life, and it all derives from your quality of thinking.

10/19 — I have accepted that I may never get much sleep.
I can live with that. I woke up today at 2 a.m., but, oh well.
Cindy and I went to a show tonight, “Frequent Flyers Aerial Dance,” at the Spooky Cabaret. You can learn more about this group here >> https://frequentflyers.org/
Many were flying above our heads, and it was good to see. Flying is entertaining and provides a good workout.
A weekly farmer market trip provided great vegies for us to consume.
10/2o—I sit at the computer at 9:02 a.m. and have been at it since about 3 a.m. (I slept in some.)
Tonight, Sunday, the juggling club meeting at BCC was held. There were quite a few jugglers there. I brought a big bowl of my currently made salsa. By the time we left, it was finished. Yes, my salsa was a big hit with the jugglers.
Also, my 3-ball trick workshop was a big hit. I went over many tricks and how to learn them. Jugglers there soaked up my words and applied them to my lessons. Yes, I saw many who advanced to a higher level in juggling.
10/21 — Not sure what I did on this day. What did you do?
We did go to Ward to see Cindy’s old frind. It was a nice drive. We almost went to the continental divide.
10/22 — As usual, on the computer since early morning, writing on this blog, reading articles, and watching videos.
Not much happened today. I should write that I did not “make” much happen today. You see, it is up to us to make things happen.
Cindy suggested a massage for me, my first ever. I’ve had people massage in various ways, but not a full-body massage. First, I lay on my stomach, and they went over my back, then I turned over. She did a deep massage, which made me feel better later.
10/23 — I woke up again today (surprise, surprise.) I don’t feel tired, but I will later.
Today, I do not feel anything from yesterday’s massage. It felt good at the time, but nothing now.
I slept in this morning until about 3 a.m. Then, I went to the Circus Center and picked up some wood to build a stand to hold the 100-gallon water saver. I put it on a five-foot stand so that gravity could bring the water to the plants.
10/24 —
First, we went to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.
I’ve been here before.
Take a look >>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnZmtyrRcH4
In exploring the area, I used to love running and dancing on trails and rocks at full speed, jumping and maneuvering to stay on the path. Now, with my brain injury, vision and balance problems, lack of sleep, and asthma, it is not the same. At one point, I let Cindy go ahead, and I just sat on a rock and waited for her return.
There seemed to be a single trail going up there, but we had gotten lost on the way back. Neither of us knew how we could have done it, but we did. We found the main road and, after walking for a bit, the car.
The next stop is the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. We were almost the only ones there, and in the following video, you will see that there was no one there then, either >>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-NMjNGMVdQ
The freeways in Denver were experiencing rush hour traffic, bumper-to-bumper, and very slow. So Cindy and I, to spend some time and get out of traffic, decided to stop by the Denver Circus Collective — https://www.circuscollective.com/
People were there, but we stayed briefly, watched an aerial fabric class, and returned to the road.
Cindy was hungry (I seldom feel hungry or full, my brain injury, I suppose.) She remembered a noodle restaurant, Menya Noodle, on the 16th St. Mall, and we walked for a while and then found it. The food was quite good, and we were delighted when we returned home. Here they are — https://menyacolorado.com/
10/25 — This current blog is about death, something that we will all be facing. I just got a message from my daughter, April (she has been in Europe), that her husband’s dad had recently passed away. He had been ill for a while, but it is always tricky when death occurs.DO SOMETHING NEW–DAILY!

TOPIC FOR THIS WEEK — CIRCUS–YOU–YES!
I wrote about Beth and our breakup in the last few blog posts. I thought Beth and I were together for the rest of our lives. I have only good thoughts of Beth, and I will never write anything against this lovely lady. I admit I was/am tremendously heartbroken, but life will continue. From now on, I will not write about Beth and our past. My love for you will always be there, Beth.
Starting with a joke >>
“I once ran away with a circus–
But they caught up with me and made me give it back.”
This blog is about the circus and circus skills.
What child does not love the circus?
Keep that child in you alive!
Did you ever think of running away and joining a circus?
Many people do; it is a way of getting away and starting a new life.
Yet, there are other ways of starting a new life. Do you need to?
Currently, I am staying with Cindy Marvell, who owns and operates the Boulder Circus Center (BCC), so it is a perfect time to write a blog on the circus. Take a look >> https://bouldercircuscenter.net/. Cindy and I have known each other for many years; a good friend she is.
Speaking of circus, did you know that, at the young age of 19, I was hired by Ringling Brothers Circus Clown College to teach juggling for the 1979 session in Florida? While there, I learned much about the circus.
The phrase “run away and join the circus” is a classic childhood desire to leave troubles behind and start a new life (which I’ve had to do a few times.) It can also mean escaping a problematic life or seeking more adventure.
The notion of ‘running away to join the circus’ has been around for as long as circuses have. Leaving your troubles behind, assuming a new identity, and starting with a fresh life certainly has its appeal. Many see this life change and strongly desire to change their lives.
Of course, the literal meaning is self-evident. Still, its symbolic meaning refers to the desire to leave one’s home and area for family reasons and a lack of opportunity. The only solution for some desperate people was to wait for the circus to come to town and leave with them as they left town.
While most circus acts look effortless and flawless, they often require months (years) of practice and work before they can be entertaining and safe. If you’re performing acrobatics, aerials, juggling, or anything similar, you must be very flexible and know how to rely on your body.
The word “circus” comes from the Latin word “cerco,” which is a Romanized version of the Greek word kirks or kilos, meaning “ring” or “circle” (as in circus ring.) The word was first recorded in English in the 14th century. The Latin circus is the romanization of the Greek κίρκος (Kirkus), itself a metathesis of the Homeric Greek κρίκος (Kirkus), meaning “circle” or “ring.”
The Roman circus was a large open-air venue for chariot races, gladiatorial combats, animal slaughter, and other blood sports—no juggling with machetes. The Circus Maximus was Rome’s largest and oldest public space and could seat up to 250,000 people.
Modern circus
Modern circuses sometimes have traditions like trained animals and preshow parades from the early Roman circuses. You will be entertained in many ways, from small one-ring circuses to big three-ring shows. The modern circus has its roots in European horsemanship displays. The traditional American three-ring circus rings come from equestrian rings that provide good visibility for the audience.
The first European circuses were run by horsemanship school teachers who found they could make more money entertaining crowds than teaching students. British composer, musician, and actor Charles Dibdin is credited with coining the word “circus.”
Unfortunately, the biggest circus show, Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, no longer travels; it has closed down. Thousands were entertained, amazed, and impressed by the RBBB show. Many will miss this circus.
A circus is a company of performers.
They put on diverse entertainment shows.
These can include >>
Clown
Trapeze
Acrobats
Contortionists
Aerialists
Juggling
Acrobatics
Animal Acts
And, of course, Ringmaster
Such a variety of things.
And where do you fit in?
Is it time for you to run away and join a circus?
The Circus Clown
Clowning has an extensive and varied history that dates back to folkloric tricksters and court jesters across time and cultures. Many suggest the earliest clowns can be found in Egypt around 2500 B.C.E.
African jesters entertained Pharaohs and other court members during the Fifth Dynasty. Legends from China’s Zhou Dynasty posit a jester, Yu Sze, laughingly convinced the emperor to forgo whitewashing the Great Wall of China, thus saving the countless individuals who would have had to undertake the arduous task.
In North America, indigenous tribes, including the Hopi and the Iroquois, employed clowns in sacred roles. The performers utilized their comedic looks and antics to expand peoples’ perceptions.
Many current clowns in America are often not funny; they are an embarrassment. Many just put on makeup, hide behind it, and say, “Oh boy, now I’m funny!” It’s such a sad thing. And I’ve seen truly clever clowns who bring joy and genuinely make people laugh. Be the second of the two.

Each week goes by so quickly, don’t you think?

You must live joyfully, daily, for each day!

10/11–After I sent my sad last blog,
Cindy wanted me to make my Salsa.
https://sites.google.com/site/summerssalsa/what-youve-been-looking-for-in-a-salsa
It came out as good as always.
Have you made some yet?
You must >>
==============================
How to make Summers’ Salsa:
Use a can of corn
One can of black beans (or a can of mixed beans)
One can of sliced peaches or three fresh peaches
One bunch of coriander (also known as cilantro)
One a 20-centimeter (8 inches) square of Roma tomatoes (same as plum tomatoes)
One large red onion
One lemon
Two limes
Four cloves of garlic, minced
Chili powder–one spoon
Garlic salt–two spoons
Organic Maple Syrup–three spoons
One or more jalapeno peppers (depending on the heat level you desire)
Use a food processor to chop the tomatoes into small bits, about 1 or 2 centimeters (quarter-inch squares). Peel the outside of the onion, cut it into quarters, and put these in the food processor; chop so they are about the same size as the tomatoes. Drain the can of peaches, put them into the food processor, chop them the same size as the tomatoes, and add them to the bowl. Drain the corn and black bean cans, then add them to the bowl. Hand chop the coriander into small bits (about the same size as tomatoes) and add this. Squeeze the juice of the lemon and the limes into the bowl, and add some pulp if desired. Add the chili powder, garlic salt, and maple syrup. In the food processor, chop one or more Jalapeno peppers into tiny bits and then add them. Mix all of these ingredients well and enjoy your fresh salsa.
For a spicy, hot salsa, leave out the maple syrup and peaches (unless you want the sweet), add more jalapeno, and add habanero peppers for the desired heat.
Be sure to let me know how yours turns out.
Making the salsa got me back on track to the success I had found with it—I sold thousands to happy customers. Thank you, Cindy, for suggesting this.
=======================================
Today, Cindy and I were out and saw Peter Davison and his dad sipping coffee at a cafe. We are all getting older. Peter has grey/white hair and numerous wrinkles. I remember Peter doing street shows in LA as a young boy—what a change!
In the 1980s, Peter was a master of juggling, flawlessly performing all the great tricks. In the 2000s, he took up ballet and now teaches and conducts this dance technique in many places.
See–you CAN change your life and take up something new!
With Peter was his dad, Roy.
At 103 years of age, he is doing fantastic!
Physically and mentally, he is all there.
What great memories his mind holds!
You can get there, too!
Start taking better care of yourself.
Think good thoughts, exercise, and eat right.
And don’t get shot by a gangster!
Since Covid, Peter has not been performing much, and many significant changes have happened in the world since that hit. Peter is now driving a school bus, once in the morning, then again in the afternoon, to bring the kids home. He gets excellent health insurance through this; he is happy about that.
Here is Peter performing >>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4MTZaKfItc&list=PL0C2BC75FD574984F
It’s impressive to me.
10/12–Cindy and I rode our bikes to the farmers market. This market is a huge deal, and in the park-like setting, it is spectacular. There are many beautiful people in Boulder, including numerous alluring females. With so many lovely ladies here, it surprises me every time I am in Boulder.
We went to a show at the Boulder Circus Center (BCC) in the evening. Various people doing Aerial Fabric Work performed. The show is called High Flying Science, which was the theme. For every routine, there was a science theme.
The BCC
The Lyra work was dramatic and well done. One act involved six people performing routines high above our heads. Many were very flexible and fit in with the routines well. A teacup routine high above was spectacular to see.
10/13–In the afternoon, we visited Fort Collins, CO, to see another circus school, fortcollinscircus.com. Cindy had never been there before. Jessica Schultz runs the school and is very talented herself. Today was the school’s sixth anniversary.
Everything was done outdoors, as they performed with aerial fabric. Many were young, and the younger ones were just demonstrating moves. Inside were circus rig setups for the beginners to learn.
Sunday evening—time for the juggling group meeting at BCC. There was a big group there. I walked around and coached on juggling. It was a good time for all of us.
Cris Jost did two diablos while on a unicycle.
Bekah Smith passed clubs with others.
It was some excellent work.
I did some coaching and saw progress. One guy was working on learning to juggle 5 balls, and I told him he was going way too fast. I told him that juggling 5 balls at three feet high is the exact timing as juggling 3 balls at one foot high. He slowed down, and he was surprised at how much that helped.
The big Boulder Juggling Festival is on July 4th weekend.
Last year, over 100 people attended.
Will you join us this year?
10/14–3am wake up time–again! It’s extraordinary; my mind clicks on, and I wake up early and cannot sleep. It seems I have enough energy for the day, but could I do better with more sleep? Perhaps I will never find out.
Cindy had some cabinets that looked quite dismal. I painted them, and they look much better. Look around the place where you live. Are there little things like a new paint job that would make your home much nicer? You must paint, starting tomorrow.
10/15–It’s like an alarm clock goes off in my head. No matter when I start slumber, it goes off at 3 a.m., and I am up for the day.
My salsa is a big hit with this group.
Have you made some yet?
Aww, you must!
Cindy, Marc & Erin Minsky (also staying with Cindy), and I went up Canyon Road to Boulder Falls. As you will see in the photos, we saw many great things. This area has so many spectacular sites to see; it’s astonishing.
Here are the falls >>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk90FczP5UA
They are beautious–as the whole area is, you will see.
Walking up, there were many boulder rocks, which were difficult for me to navigate. As I’ve written, I’ve only taken a few falls, but I must be extra careful when negotiating such trails. I made it without difficulty, though. I remember from my young days how I would jump from rock to rock with no problem.
This evening, I saw Marc Minsky perform; he sings and plays guitar in the streets. With Marc was his wife, Erin. I saw Marc at Boulder Mall; the audiences were small, mainly because no one was around. Marc has a great voice and plays guitar well. It started getting colder, so I walked from the mall to Cindy’s house. Here is Marc >> http://marcsings.com/
10/16–I Woke up at 2 a.m. and lay there for an hour trying to get back to sleep, which didn’t happen. Once again, Kit is lacking sleep.
An early trip over to BCC, where I painted a clear/protective coating on the
Cindy purchased a small totem pole with owls cut out as I had written. This guy makes his art using big tree trunks and a chainsaw to cut the shapes. I had asked the guy there if I could come over to get the scrap wood he was not using. Today, I loaded up (with Cindy’s help) a lot of wood for fires in Cindy’s fireplace this winter.
10/17–I woke up at 2 a.m. again. I went to the computer, wrote, and watched videos. At about 3:33, I went upstairs and lay on the bed again. Surprisingly, I got some more sleepy time. But I woke up again at about 4:22, and here I am.
I got nice words sent from Beth–about time.
I care about this person much.
10/18–Awake at about 2am, again. I went to Costco and Walmart for some things, Not much today.

ON WONDERFUL ADVENTURES!********************
My friend Jules Manas sent these words, very nice of him >>
Morning Kit,I wish I had the right words or any words, to share with you as your life’s journey continues to evolve. You’re a good person, Kit. I know that much. Stay focused on all the new possibilities; you’ll land exactly where your life’s plan will take you.
As always, your Blog leaves me in awe. You have no idea how inspirational your words are for me. I appreciate your suggestions, guidance, and wisdom. Thank you.
Hang in there, my friend, and know that people care for you.
By the way, your friend Cindy has incredible skills and talent!
Stay focused, Kit…..

And Judy Wrote about the last blog >>
Kit, at one level, my illness and disability were the best thing for me. My solitude was enforced. I was always all over the place and had a hard time being alone and focusing. But my situation helped with a kind of enforced solitude I have been obliged to make peace with. I found happiness in being alone – up to a point. I am grateful for my illness.
It sounds like your wife stopped communicating deeply with you at some point. We don’t always heed the signs – that would be too painful. But you’re right; given some time, you might be able to communicate again. She may have bottled up her emotions, which might not even be apparent.
Communication opens the possibility for change, and that’s what I wish for you both. I enjoyed being part of the Pickle Family Circus or Circus Vargas because I could tour and not be alone unless I wanted to be. But yes – the loneliness of the solo juggler is a thing – the work is honest and relentless and mental –

TOPIC FOR THIS WEEK — If Someone Else Can Do It, So Can You!
This thought gives me positive forward momentum and continuously keeps me positive. Having this mindset can take you far in life. Thinking this way will provide you with the confidence to move forward. The phrase “If someone else can do it, so can I” can be helpful and unhelpful, depending on the context and the individual receiving the message. Here are some points to consider:
Encouragement—The words can serve as encouragement, suggesting that success is attainable and that others can achieve similar goals.
Relatability—Sharing personal experiences can make a person seem more relatable, reinforcing the idea that obstacles can be overcome.
Empowerment—These words can empower individuals by instilling a belief in their abilities.
Be Happy! —Can you be happy and energetic all day? It sounds exhausting. When I’m unhappy and somewhat mercurial, ‘all day’ seems unrealistic. However, there are a few fundamental things that you would need as a foundation to give your life a better chance of being consistently happier.
The Benefits
Do the people in your life benefit from joy? Do they enrich and develop Happiness?
We all want to feel love and respect, and giving is the best way. But as there has always been, some people take more than they give. It’s important to recognize these people. I’m not talking financially. I’m talking about love, respect, patience, time, understanding, compassion. Folks who can’t give those things to you while you bestow them onto them will prevent you from ever reaching your potential. Surround yourself with people who make your life better and encourage you to try new things, people who fill dull moments with laughter and sad ones with joy.
Alone time
Make time to sit by yourself, not every day, but at least five times a week. That doesn’t sound ‘happy and energetic,’ but bear with me. If you can’t be alone for five minutes and enjoy your thoughts, you’ll probably be in for a rough day; you are with your thoughts all day. You could listen to music, draw, or write down your thoughts if you are willing to set aside five minutes a day for some quality alone time, meditating. It’s a little difficult initially, but you will get it! It is incredible how much clearer your thought will become.
Be yourself
This is unquestionably the most difficult one on this list. We are all governed by our irrational thoughts; we must think right. You have to be yourself to be successful and have happy, energetic days. Live by your standards, and don’t let anything that someone may or may not think about you rule how you behave.
Purpose.
Having a purpose may be the hardest, but it’s also the simplest. Find your purpose! If you can wake up in the morning and know why you are here, you have nailed this little thing called life.
HERE ARE SOME MORE IDEAS FOR DAILY LIVING >>
1–Wake up early.
2–Walk for a few minutes.
3–Eat breakfast.
5–Keep your phone aside.
6–Have dinner at home.
7–Sleep early.
8–Wake early.

10/5–I removed everything from my van, including my bed frame, and strengthened the bed. I also attached a new toilet paper roll holder for Cindy, which turned out lovely.
10/6–Today, I decided that life will go on without Beth. They say that there are plenty of fish in the sea; the thing is, I am allergic to fish! I will find happiness and joy again, perhaps with someone other than Beth. Sad to say, Beth wants nothing to do with me anymore; where we once had such a strong love between us. What happened, Beth?
10/7–Early, I drove over to the car places about my brakes. None could work with me, so I went back to Cindy’s and called car places. I found one and made an appointment for tomorrow morning.
This evening, we attended a chiropractic presentation by Dr. Danny Knowles of the Network Wellness Center. This man knows his stuff about the human body. Here is their website >>
https://www.boulderchiropractor.com/.
This presentation was held at a Mexican Restaurant; we ate well.
10/8–Why, look at that. I slept until about 4 a.m. this morning (AdvilPM helped), whereas I woke at about 1 a.m. on the two previous nights and was up for the day. I can accomplish more when I wake up early, but my tiredness is not good.
I’ve seen how they are manufacturing these storms to devastate certain areas. Yes, people can bring storms to any location they want. Living in my van, I can stay ahead of any storm and be all right.
What a great day! I left my van off at legacyautoboulder.com. They did a thorough check of my entire van. I thought the brake pads were low, but they found they were alright. That made me so happy! They sent a detailed report to my email, and it was terrific. Chris and Christian, you were both wonderful to work with. A hundred bucks later, I got my happy van back.
Later, I talked with Amanda of Reading Glass Books. She will help me sell my books to a major publisher. She will send my information to 60 major publishers—such great news! She said my book, Accident, could be sold for $80,000 to $150,000—how wonderful! Reading Glass Books takes 10% of the fee, so that is low.
Once the books take off, my speaking program will, too. Motivating people through my speaking program brings me joy, so I should find much joy in my future as people get inspired.
10/9–Yikes, awakening at 1am again. Sleep continues to be a problem for me. But I have so much on my mind and so much to do that sleep seems like a waste of time. I understand that the human mind and body need sleep, so I try.
It’s bizarre and driving me crazy in many ways. Beth and I were happily married for two years, then she suddenly kicked me out and put me back on the road. I still am unsure why she wanted to separate. If you have contact with Beth, please find out what is happening with her. Many tears have been shed.
In the evening, I went to a meeting about chiropractic. I just saw that it would not work for me. I may not have been in the area long enough, and after he went over my back and made adjustments, I did not feel anything, and/or it didn’t help. This may be because of my brain injury, but chiropractic did nothing for me.
I should be exercising daily, but I have no desire to. I do not care much about life and do not see what my future holds. Yes, a bleak outlook.
10/10–I slept until 3 a.m., which is good for me. We went to the Circus Center and went to the acro-jam. There were ten women and one guy there. They did some amazing things up on ropes.
Later, Cindy took us to dinner. It was Chinese, and it was quite good.
10/11–This morning, I sorted my pills; I take eight different ones: some for high blood pressure, some for allergies, and some vitamins. I have not cared about life, and whether I live or not, so I did not take any of them for some weeks. I am unsure why I am starting to retake them, perhaps they will make me feel better?
DO SOMETHING NEW–DAILY!
THEN, KEEP DOING NEW FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

THE GARDEN THIS WEEK
A self-supportive life can be a better life.
A garden would be a part of that life.
You must look into it.
Because I am back on the road, there will be no more words about the garden. I do hope Beth keeps it up. I did a lot of work establishing our vegetable garden together.
When I drove the van seven years ago,
I grew stuff under the sunroof windows on the top.
I may start that up my van garden again.
You will find out, of course.START YOUR GARDEN TODAY!

TOPIC FOR THIS WEEK — Loneliness
Loneliness can affect each of us. It’s got a grip on me right now that I can’t get rid of. Beth decided to push me back to my traveling. I must say that Beth is a special lady; I miss her very much. Beth and I were married for a few years, and I thought we were in love. I never saw this separation coming; it’s awful.
Beth would agree—she tends to be very controlling and worries that I will find someone else online. This thought alone was difficult because I was devoted to Beth. I recently wrote to my juggling friend, Jenny, who had sent me supportive words. In my words, I told Jenny I loved her. Beth took that and ran with it. I’ve tried to contact Beth in the last few weeks, and she has not responded. It’s bizarre.
Loneliness is the unpleasant feeling of being alone or disconnected from others, even when surrounded by people. It can be caused by a perceived gap between the level of connection a person wants and the level they have. I performed in front of a crowd of hundreds each night; no one knew I felt very alone.
There I was, driving all by myself. What a dreadful night of Hurricane Helena I had after the storm. It was hard to drive because electrical lines were down, giant trees littered the road, and most streetlights and turn signal lights were not working. It’s an exciting time for all. I tried hard to find a place with Wi-Fi and electricity but could not find it, so there was no blog last week.
A ranger gave me a way through. I was high above a road that only one other car and I were on. I did not know if I would or could get through, so I just drove. Eventually, GPS found me, and I could go by that. I ultimately parked under a bridge, where I spent the night.
No one in the world knew where I was or that I was out there. Death could have come, and no one would have known or found out for a long time. Come to think of it, no one could know I am dead except you, my audience for reading my blog.
I heard of a lady who was talking about the overwhelming loneliness that happened when she would get home from work. She would pull into her driveway and sit there, sometimes for 15-20 minutes, because she didn’t want to go inside her home. She couldn’t stand the sound of the empty house. It was keeping her from wanting to go in. Working alone was a great distraction for her, and she thrived there. But the minute she pulled into her driveway, she said it was like her body had shut down.
We all have moments like this. Maybe it’s a specific time of day that you feel it the most. For example, when you’re about to sleep, loneliness kicks in. I know nighttime is the worst time of day for many alone. We dread it. We dread trying to go to sleep. It’s another pattern of our life that’s been disrupted. And nighttime is so quiet. But it’s the quiet that’s so hard to get used to.
Or, perhaps, it’s that few moments first thing in the morning when you wake up, when you think that life is like this every day, just another regular day. Then, five seconds later, you remember that your husband died and you’re a widow, and this is your life now. Your heart sinks, and you feel deflated, hurt, and sad. And alone.
I sometimes feel lonely when I am driving, like now. I like to travel in an exemplary way. It was a good distraction, a healthy coping mechanism, and a way to see other parts of the world and even live in different parts. The energy in my body would be sucked out of me immediately through loneliness. I would suddenly be an empty person. Empty. I’m sure some of you can relate to how that feels. It makes you realize the humanity of this experience.
When you read the words below, I hope they strike a chord within you, help you become self-aware of your situation, and give you something to hold onto during this challenging time. Use these words and ideas to pull yourself out of the muck of loneliness.
BELOW ARE SOME IDEAS FOR YOU TO GET THROUGH YOUR LONELINESS >>
1–Talk to strangers.
A growing body of research suggests that even seemingly insignificant interactions with strangers — like chatting with a barista or store worker. Even small exchanges with strangers, such as a cashier at a store, can help you feel socially connected. Many people feel lonely, and the pandemic has worsened their situation. I suggest practical ways to communicate with others.
2–Take up a new hobby or join a group
Retirement is a great time to revisit or take up new and old hobbies. Topics include wine tasting, botany, scrabble, history, and gardening. These are usually held in somebody’s home, a local library, or a community center.
3–Volunteer for a good cause or group
Volunteering! If there’s a charity or organization you support, why not volunteer to help it? It can be an excellent opportunity to get out of the house, meet new people, and feel useful. Charity shops are essential to raising funds for good causes and often need an extra pair of hands.
4–JUGGLE!
I’ve written about the benefits in the past, you know. Juggling is very much a solo venture; you see your advancement. Juggling with friends can add a good spark to your skill.
5–Get into books
If you enjoy a good read, you might enjoy being part of a book club. It can be fun and mentally stimulating to discuss books with like-minded people. Set up your group and meet monthly, taking turns hosting it in your house and providing snacks. Otherwise, you can ask your local librarian or council if they know of existing book clubs.
6–Gardening
Mowing the lawn and tending the garden can become too strenuous, but it doesn’t mean your gardening days are over. It’s a great way to get some fresh air and gentle exercise, and it’s rewarding to grow flowers or vegetables that you can eat! Invite a neighbor or friend to help, and you can benefit from it.
7–Board games
Board games can be a great way to interact with others and have fun. Many classic board games we enjoyed in our youth are still popular—anyone for Scrabble, Cribbage, Monopoly, Backgammon, or a good puzzle? You can enjoy a good board game at any age.
8–Join a Heart Support Group
Health and Heart Support Groups are friendly local groups for people with heart conditions and their families. Activities vary between groups but typically include simple exercise classes tailored for people with heart conditions and talks about different topics.
9–Go to the cinema
When was the last time you saw a flick? The allure of visiting the cinema and watching a great movie never fades. Most of the big cinemas have special screenings for older people at discounted rates, and some also provide free hot drinks and biscuits so you can chat and make the occasion a little more pleasant.
10–Keep in contact online
If your friends or family live far away, or you can’t go out to meet them, programs such as Skype and Facebook Video can help you keep in touch. These programs allow you to video call someone for free, wherever they are (as long as you both have an internet connection), so you can see them when you talk.
11–Borrow a dog (Jemma?)
Little doggy, if you’re a dog lover but don’t have the space, time, or money to have your own, then ‘dog borrowing’ might be just the thing for you. Maybe a friend or neighbor has a dog and would like to take a walk and have some company during the day. Alternatively, you can sign up for a dog-borrowing scheme.
12–Food, friends, and fun
One of the best ways to meet new people and be sociable is over a meal. Systems across the country offer free or inexpensive lunches, coffee mornings, and meetups for older people; some also provide transport. So, if you’re feeling lonely, your GP or other healthcare providers can refer you to social groups, community events, or peer befriending projects they think you might enjoy.
13–You will get through!
Yes, you will get through your loneliness, as I will.
Thank you, Jasmine, April, Liisa, and Jenny, for your support.

YES, YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO FIND YOUR SUCCESS!

When you read these quotes, you’ll also realize that many other people worldwide are experiencing these feelings. These feelings make you think you’re the only person who could feel this bad. But you’re not. Lots and lots of other people feel bad, too. This is the irony of it. You don’t want other people to feel crappy, but it does make you feel better, or at least comforted to know that other people feel just as bad as you.

9/22–Well, she did it.I’ve been put back on the road.
Life is different.
Life has changed.
Yes, Beth told me to hit the road.
Being away from Beth is still so foreign to me.
Any change in the relationship can affect both people dramatically.
Of course, I was shocked at the news.
I know Beth has had some trouble with me.
But any relationship can have trouble, and most do.
I thought we were together for the rest of our lives.
Why didn’t Beth say something about not wanting to be married when we were first together? She said it wasn’t about me but the idea of being married (I just happen to fit the part?) Why could she not have said something about this before we were wedded in Bliss?
Yes, I can be hard to be with—just ask Mary Ellen or Tina. Yet, I believe I have more positive traits than downbeat endings. What I try and do will only make life fun for the other person—at least—that’s what I try to do.
I went to a Walmart today; this Walmart only sold food. What amazed me was that it was set up precisely like Costco. They must have studied the layout; it looked just the same.
Talk about something ideal – – I can’t believe it.
It is just getting to 5:00 p.m. and finally getting more relaxed. Today was quite a hot one.
I find myself very sad currently. I am still determining what my future holds, but of course, no one knows what their future holds. I hoped this man would be with Beth again, but that won’t happen, as she doesn’t want us to rejoin. I’ve left messages for her; she will not get ahold of me or write to me. I still have hopes and dreams that remain unfulfilled. I hope I will soon take off to unknown parts and be recognized. Late for me is good, even though I had a massive negative change.
It’s 3:00 in the afternoon. I just ate a can of beans, white beans, and a spice sauce; they tasted great. I got this can of beans at the Amish market I was at. It cost about 30 cents. Eating well for a low price is good; I like it.
9/23–Awake most of the night.
My brain just does not want to sleep.
Has this ever happened to you?
How can you force sleep? Any ideas?
9/24–I found out today from Jimmy (https://www.jiminy-fixit.com/) that I need a new alternator. I will return it to Jimmy tomorrow and have him install the new one. He said everything else in the van looked superb, which was great.
9/25–The new alternator has been installed, and the van is excellent now. Next, I went to Tires Plus. Some years ago, I bought a lifetime alignment here and had them check now and then; the alignment was accurate. They also have something where you pay $23, and they go over your whole vehicle to see what might be wrong. They found that I needed new brakes. So, I do a lot of coasting now and do not use the brake as much.
9/26–I am currently at Discount Tire, a company I’ve purchased from before. It is a rainy day, and I am glad to be inside while they put on my new tires.
After they were done, they told me that a lugnut post had broken off. So, after I was done at Discount Tire, I returned to Tires Plus to get the lug nut post. They ordered it, and it will be delivered; it might take a while
I ended up having to wait at least 3 hours! Nevertheless, I could access the Internet and write some blog posts. I also watched YouTube videos and read articles.
9/27—Last night, the hurricane came through. This morning, the roads are horrendous—trees toppled everywhere, wires down on the road—it’s a scary mess out there.
Awakening at 3am and knowing you must just lay there for four hours until the world awakens.
Hurricane Helene was gargantuan. I was in North Carolina. The devastation caused has erased nearly every trace of the community near Chimney Rock State Park. Roads are obliterated, and persistent power outages contribute to the area’s woes, highlighting the storm’s ferocity. A town is now gone.
The freeway is at a total standstill. I’ve had there must be Big trees blocking the road. Most cars have their engines on, of course; mine is off. I will sit here and wait for how long it takes. It should be cleared out sometime today, oh boy.
I talked with an officer who said they would allow this local to use the damaged road. I spoke with him, and he let me take the road. I drove far and eventually parked under the bridge for my sleepy time. I bedded out and slept well; it was hushed.
9/29/2024–At a McDonalds, typing my blog, as you see.
I contacted my old juggling friend, Tommy Curtin, about a visit today. His wife said they had too much going on medically and with family, to see me. We always have to remember that we are ALL getting older and will die one day.
I went off to Colorada by myself.
Here is a video of Tommy performing at the 1981 IJA Convention >>

9/30–I drove in the rain, a scary drive. I ended up at Gordonsville Library, the only one here. It’s good to be out of the constant rain, and I can work on this for you.
I still only eat once a day. When I was at the library, I saw a Costco just 30 miles down the road so that I would eat that one meal for free. Gas is always the cheapest at Costco, too, so I will fill it up.
10/1—This morning, I woke up at about 1:00 a.m.
How can I get to sleep?
I’m up for the night.
Of course, Beth is firmly on my mind. While I married her for two years, she seemed normal, but she turned out to be a mighty scary person. Over the last couple of days, I’ve tried to contact her by email but am still waiting to receive a response. Now, she just scares me, but life will go on.
I don’t know if I should plan to return to her or not.
I am feeling very alone in the world right now.
I’m glad you are there.
Please help me decide.
I will try to sleep now, but I’m up for the day.
It’s 1:00 a.m., and all is not well.
Surprisingly, I got back to sleep until about 4 a.m.
It was still dark when I got on the road, and much construction was happening everywhere. I got behind a big rig, and he paced my way. He was my eyes as I stayed behind him. I put in many miles in the morning darkness.
At about 6 a.m., I pulled into a McDonald’s and could plug in and get online, so here I am. The sun is still not up enough to drive comfortably so that I will be here for a bit. Comfortable at McDonald’s, who would ever think?
I checked my oil in the van this morning; it was topped off and looking good.
My van had been drinking oil, though. It seems alright now.
That made me happy! After all, right now, my van is my life.
10/2–At Cindy’s now. We have been juggling friends since the 80s. I have seen Cindy move her juggling to ever higher skill levels. I have coached her on her performance in the past, and it is great to see her implement the ideas I have given her.
Cindy has three apple trees with three different types of apples.
I ate a few, and they were quite tasty.
Currently, she is making a delicious Apple Crisp.
We had walked to the farmers market—a mile down and a mile back. Because of my lack of sleep, I had quite a difficult time with it.
10/3—Cindy and I drove up to Flagstaff Mountain, where many trails and an amphitheater exists. Then we went to Gross Reservoir. Both of these are near Boulder and are splendid to see.

******************THE GARDEN THIS WEEK
A self-supportive life can be a better life.
A garden would be a part of that life.
You must look into it.
Because I am back on the road, there will be no more words about the garden. I do hope looBeth keeps it up. I did a lot of work in establishing the vegetable garden.
When I drove the van seven years ago, I grew stuff under the sunroof windows on the top. Maybe I will start that up again. You will find out, of course.START YOUR GARDEN TODAY!
IT MAY BE NECESSARY FOR YOUR LIFE!******************
