    INTRO TO THIS WEEK >>
    Excellence?
Seems that many aim for mediocrity and achieve that. Just a little extra effort in all that you do will be a great direction toward a high quality of life.
If you make every small detail of your life perfect, it is a great direction toward the excellence you are aiming for.
In this blog, you will find other ideas to add to your life, such as managing your time better.
No matter what might happen in your life, such as going through the life-change of a major accident, you can still aim toward being the best you can achieve and be. It is a mindset that you can find and cling to that will keep advancing your life, no matter what might have occurred.
On a different subject, this week the hummingbirds have moved on, none can be seen anymore. They went south for the warmer weather. So, do you know how they know which direction south is?
Enjoy the read and let me know what you think of my words.

    WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU! >>
Inspirational quotes and motivational sayings have an amazing ability to change the way we feel about life and can change our thinking.
This is why I find them so interesting, challenging, and important on our path to joy and happiness and finding ways to inspire ourselves.
Inspirational quotes and ideas provide us with a quick and timely burst of wisdom to get our focus back, offering t2he inspiration needed for the day or occasion.
I hope to inspire you with my words.
    Words have power.
At any age, you can (and should) make changes to make your life better.
You see, the way you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible for you, determines everything that happens in your life. It all derives from your quality of thinking.
When you improve the quality of your thinking, you change the quality of your life—sometimes instantly!
Just as positive words can make someone smile, and/or, a well-timed amusing quote can make someone laugh, your own thoughts react to the world in real-time. You have this control!
In fact, you have complete control over only one thing in the universe — your thinking — and that’s where motivational quotes come in!
To keep your motivation, you have to use each day as an opportunity for improvement, to be better, to get a little bit closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work—and with your busy schedule—next to impossible. But you can do it!
    Self-talk is so important—THINK RIGHT!
Motivational words, yes, they’re just words.

    BE INSPIRED BY THESE WORDS>>
These works are from my book series—Beyond Your Potential
    My Time
Because some of my time was taken away from me experiencing my 37-day coma, I wanted to find ways to use time better so that I could perform and function in the best potential with the least wasted time and effort. I had to be persistent and squeeze time to get the most out of the time I had. None of us can make time or manage time or control time. Time is time – no controlling it – at all.
    Time-Management?
In this section, I am stressing to use time efficiently. This does not mean keeping your toes (or nose) to the grindstone and never take a break. You will read suggestions on how to use your time more efficiently. The idea of time management is a parable. You control the situation, you do not control the time. You cannot manage time, but you can decide how you would like to use the time that you use. You have control of your own time, don’t let it take control of you. Yes, you have all the time in the world – use it wisely. As I am typing these words, I am sitting comfortably on my deck. I see the birds at the bird feeder, I hear the gentle breeze blowing, and I feel the warmth of the sun on my skin. Is this work? You make your time where, when, and how you want to. Why not spend time wisely on the best-quality life possible? You have that choice. Time management is simply a series of ways to live life more deliberately.
You are Getting Very Sleepy . . .
An average person spends 20 years of life asleep. I spent more than a month in a coma, which was enough for me. As we get up in age, we need less and less sleep. Last night I got four hours and am functioning fine. Sleep as often and as long as your mind and body need to, but don’t overdo it.
    Too Much?
So many people waste their life away sleeping too much. We have so much to accomplish in life, we don’t have time for too much sleep.
    What is tiredness anyway?
    Is being tired sleepiness?
    Then take a nap.
Is it not having the energy to do something?
Set your mind to get the energy.
I think often it is just laziness. You can control your energy output. Many people use tiredness as an escape to get out of life for a while.
    Track Your Doings
Start a personal log of how you spend your time. It’s an immensely powerful way to bring awareness to your daily routines and how you spend your day. The simple act of logging your behavior will dramatically alter your life! Do this for a week or two, minute by minute, and you can see exactly how you spend your time and see where you can make more time.
Start With the Things You Don’t Want To Do
There are many things you do not want to do in your life, yet, they must be done. When you have many things to do during your day at work, home, or wherever, tackle the toughest, most challenging things first. Start with the things that you want to put off until later.
    Start
Once these projects are out of the way, you can get to the more pleasant things that need to be done. That way you are always looking forward to the upcoming tasks that you like more. Do this and get more accomplished in your life, faster, and be more pleased.
WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS, YOU CAN OVERCOME ANYTHING.

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
10/9—Today included an excursion to Hawe Creek Campground area. Every so often Beth and I need our fix of the wilderness. This was closed for the winter (don’t know why, there will be no snow, and stays somewhat warm.) Take a look, a fabulous place–
Today there happened to be a bass fishing tournament going on. So, many trucks with boat trailers are parked here. There were dead fish we spotted in the water. We were told that there are Egrets and Eagles who swoop down and make a meal out of them.
We brought Jemma the dog along, who had a wonderful time

Beth’s pooch has mainly spent her life at home, getting out and meeting people is new. Beth worries that she might bite someone, but I think she does fine amongst humans.

Dinner was a delight at a Mexican Restaurant with our friends Val and Jeff Watt. After, Beth and I stopped by an ice cream parlor in the middle of nowhere, where Beth treated both of us to double scoops of the delicious cold stuff.
Out in the wilderness, we came upon many different kinds of mushrooms. I thought I might just eat one to know if it is poisonous or not, but decided this would not be the best way to find out.
Also, we discovered a stick that was walking! Or, as it is normally called, a Walking Stick. Very slow and precise in their movements (how you should be?), it was interesting to see. Have you seen a Walking Stick? Take a look,
We also saw a bug that was praying, as in Mantis.
10/11-12—Visited Catfish Bay Boat Ramp today. As we were entering the parking lot we saw overhead a HUGE GOLDEN EAGLE that flew low right over the top of our car! Beth saw where it perched, but it was too far away for a good photo. So great to be out in nature! I suggest again for you, try and get out to local parks, forests and oceans as often as you can, it will add to your life in a good way.
We returned the next day to try and spy the eagle again, but, sadly, that did not happen, he flew the coup. Jemma came along with us this time, she likes the wilderness, too.
On the way back we also stopped by Parksville Recreation Area, another nice place.
You will witness some huge motor homes. Is staying in something like that really camping?
On the way home, we stopped at the library at which Beth used to work and where we met and started our wonderful relationship.
10/13-14—A couple of cooking and lazy days. On Wednesday I made some of my famous salsa, as well as a batch of my Japanese Salad Sauce. Then made some of my homemade noodles with our new pasta machine. If you want the recipes for anything I make let me know, I will send them to you.
Eating is such a big part of life. I learned some time ago to not just scarf food down. After you take a small bite, put your spoon or fork down and chew the current mouthful completely before the next bite. Examine the taste and texture in detail.
If you eat in this manner you will have a new surprise each time you have a meal. Also, you will eat less. experience the delicateness of what you are eating. As you are chewing experience the taste and texture of each morsel.
10/15—Each morning the horses who live in the field across from us seem to gather and wait for us to come and feed them. Carrots, apples, and such, they love it. We just have to be careful that they don’t munch on our fingers while feeding them.
I would love to hear from you!

MY CHALLENGE FOR YOU THIS WEEK >>
This week keep track of your eating habits.
    • Are you eating healthy?
    • Are you eating too much?
    • Are you eating at restaurants too often?
Keep a written record of everything that enters your mouth this week. Reread what I wrote earlier about making each meal and mouthful a delightful experience. Eating is such a big part of life, but keep track of what you consume.

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK >>

As you know, for about five years I lived in my van traveling all over the US mainly going to National Parks and wilderness areas. I love that lifestyle.

Yet, at the McCormick Library in South Carolina, I met Beth, who worked there. We slowly grew in love and caring for each other. She is five months older than me, so we are both the same age at 63.

To find a life partner at an older age is fantastic! Beth and I will be together until our death, perhaps 42 years from now?

    Two happy people in love!

As you know from my past writings, I have been very lonely in my life living in my van while driving to National Parks and Wilderness Areas. I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog posts over the years.

At Beth’s home, I have been making many improvements, as you see in the photos. How is your abode?
    Do you live in magnificence?
This is something you could do, yes?

Here I put the new floor down, added the red, and built the shelf.

You might call it lazy, I’ve decided to reestablish my beard. Because my facial hair grows so quickly, I usually shave twice a day. When I have a beard, I only trim it about once a week. I know that the “common” look is a clean face. If you know me, you know that I never follow the “normal” ways.

Are there changes you need to make to add to and have a better life? Today, now, is the time to reach for excellence as you can.

No traveling this week, I hope the words I have included inspire you toward the excellence that you possess!

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>

10/1—Back to painting on the house. I choose bright happy colors, someone recently saw my work and mentioned they were the colors of McDonald’s. I agreed, it is looking good, though. I think Ronald would agree.

This day I got up and did some free painting. Standing on the roof just depending on my feet to support me. I was deliberately slow and careful; quite scary it was. I got the red painted and will do the black and yellow tomorrow.

10/2—Back up I went, but this time I used a rope around my waist and tied to the house to help provide confidence. Now if I were to slip I would just go down to the roof. Feel much better about the work I am doing.

Who would ever imagine, a man who once went through a 37-day coma and had to learn to walk again would be up on the roof accomplishing the paint job.

I just have to say, there is much more you are capable of and can do – apply yourself to tasks you think are beyond you, you will be surprised at what you can accomplish. Stay safe and careful always, though.

The front porch and chairs were another project.

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK >>

    My beard?
As you might know, I had not shaved for a year or more. Beth had never seen me with a clean shave, so I thought it was time to. But, I shaved just half off, as she could get used to it, slowly. If you know me, I sometimes do “Kit” stuff and have my fun.

It’s funny, I spent two days with only half a beard, the right side was gone, and not many mentioned it. Perhaps they just thought I was a weirdo, but, I believe, not many people really look at someone. Do you?

    Beth and I?
As you know, for a number of years I was living in my van and traveling all over the country; mainly going to national parks and wilderness areas. While in McCormick, South Carolina, I went to the library here to get online.

I asked one of the librarians where I could plug in my computer and do some work. Beth showed me, as our eyes connected with interest.

I told her of my travels and she suggested that I could park on her lawn to spend the night. I said yes as our new friendship was growing.

She had just one more week at the library and then faced retirement. Great timing as we grew to like each other.

The bond was flourishing and cementing us together. We each had big smiles much of the time and were very happy.

We chose February 20 at 2:20 for the wedding (so the date is 2-20-2002 at 2:20—that’s a lot of twos.) Planning either to marry in a natural setting or our home in McCormick. We will have few guests, wish you could be here? Yes, we are accepting wedding gifts (I love toasters—not really.) We are at 801 Augusta St ext, McCormick, SC 29835.

    I performed!
They were quite young, preschoolers, but loved my juggling and magic; as I loved performing for them. I do want to return to my entertaining and inspirational talks.

    My van is fixed.
It was a hard time not to have my home (my van) functioning correctly. But, a new battery and cables fixed all. Beth and I drove in her car when we needed. And, my traveling days as they were are in the past, as Beth and I will marry and live here together. Yes, we will be traveling together, too.

    Live life to the fullest.
    Are you healthy?
    Worries about COVID?
Keep yourself in top shape as you can. Eat right and exercise—now—as always, that is important. You have control, don’t depend on medicine or doctors, keep yourself above the healthy level you should be, you will be safe.

    To find love >>
Love is so elusive that it can seem like the quest to find it will never end. We know it exists, because, like me, others have it. But the path can be so murky that it’s tempting to give up the search. There are no surefire steps guaranteed to bring you love, but, it can be so lonely alone.

Look at me, hit by a truck, twice, once involving a 37-coma I went through. Two failed marriages were also in my past. I never imagined I would find Beth, we are so happy together.

Or, perhaps the ideas below can help you with a current relationship you are in?

I anticipate these ideas will help you >>

1—Understand what you have to offer. Love means sharing yourself with someone else who accepts you for who you are. Before you can expect someone else to accept you, though, you must know what “self” you are projecting. You might start by writing down the answers to these questions. Your answers will help paint a picture of the “you” you are offering to your potential partner.

    What are your best qualities?

What do you like to do with your time?

What do you love about yourself?

What would you like to work on?

    What makes you feel uncomfortable?

2—Build confidence. Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, a hilarious crowd-pleaser, or a very kind friend, be confident about what you have to offer someone else. That is more important than finding someone to please you.

When it comes to finding love, there is no right personality type, no special trait that will get you ahead. Contrary to what you might see in romantic comedies and sitcoms, everyone has a shot at love—not just the most popular or conventionally attractive among us. So know what you have, and own it.

3—Know what you’re looking for in someone else. Part of knowing yourself is knowing your relationship needs. Writing down what you consider to be the most important traits of your potential partner is a good way to figure out what you actually mean when you say you’re looking for love.

Try not to be too specific with this list of traits. For instance, instead of saying “six feet tall, brown hair, dark eyes,” focus on personality traits that matter to you. Do you want someone who’s honest to a fault? Someone who shares your passion for books?

It may also be helpful to write down a list of definite “no’s.” For example, you might not want a partner who travels six months out of the year or someone who doesn’t get along with your family.

Remember that the point here is not to craft a projection of your future partner; you’re just sketching out the basic qualities you’d enjoy having in a partner so you can understand your own needs better. Chances are, the person you end up loving will only have a few of the qualities on your list.

4-Try dating services? Using an online dating network is a great way to find out who is available in your area. However, don’t fall into the trap of being too picky, or judging everyone by their profile picture. If you want to find love, you’ll have to give people a chance! – the same chance you’d want them to give you.

Perhaps they are as lonely as you? Ask people on dates. When you’ve found someone who interests you and you’re ready to move from the “friend” stage to something deeper, try asking the person you’re interested in out on a date.

Also, try going with the classic date night: ask someone out to dinner. This will probably flatter your date and facilitate great conversation.

Don’t put too much pressure on the format of the date – just focus on having a good time. Joke around and make your date feel good – the goal is to have fun!

Think about whether you’d like to keep seeing this person. Does he or she seem to meet your most important needs? Is there a mutual attraction? If so, make plans to do something else together. If things keep going well, your relationship may take a deeper turn from here.

6—Don’t be too pushy. Remember that everyone is dealing with insecurities and personal issues, and sometimes signals just get mixed. Try not to take things too personally at this early stage.

These days, texting and other forms of messaging may be the simplest ways to communicate, but you’re less likely to give each other the wrong impression.

Find them – they are out there and waiting for you.

    BE INSPIRED BY THESE WORDS>>
From my book series, “Beyond Your Potential”

The human brain is capable of storing more information than all the libraries in the world.

We know very little about the human brain that each of us has. One thing that still baffles science is how we are able to smell so many different things. Scientists know how we see and hear, but they are mystified about how tiny molecules inhaled from the air can be processed and identified by our brains and how the brain can file away those identifications indefinitely in memory.

Because of my brain injury, I am not able to smell things very well. I miss that.

The brain itself has no feeling. In fact, a surgeon can use a local anesthetic to open the skin for an operation, and from then on the patient will not feel what is going on and can remain awake.

Brain size varies between sexes and races, and, of course, between all people. The brain of an average white male is about 3 pounds.

Brain size doesn’t matter that much to your intelligence, one of the largest brains on record is that of an idiot. It is how we learn to use the brain that we have that makes the difference.

There are three main parts to your brain. They are the fore-brain, the mid-brain, and the hind-brain. Along with these main parts of your brain is your brain-stem. The brainstem extends out of the top of your spinal cord and is less than 3 inches in length.

Most of us know more about the way our lawnmower works than our own brain. Your brain controls everything that you think, dream, and do, along with taking care of your bodily functions.

The last few decades have seen fantastic growth in our knowledge of our brain. Imagine, in this space that is no larger than a grapefruit, are about between 10 billion and 100 billion neuron cells (no one knows exactly how many), communicating with each other. The neurons (or nerve cells) communicate with each other through electrical and chemical connections. A signal, from your finger, for example, manages to speed through the nervous system to eventually find the exact area of the brain designed to handle that signal.

Learn to use your brain right – it will add so much to your life!

WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS, YOU CAN OVERCOME ANYTHING.
At any age, you can make the change and aim your life anew.
Now, it’s time to get out there and do
something incredible that you can rejoice in!

She just turned 63, as I will do on February 28. Yes, the older woman, but not by much. We both think this is fabulous, that we met at an older age and will make each other smile for the rest of our lives.

Inspirational quotes and ideas provide us with a quick and timely burst of wisdom to get our focus back, offering the inspiration needed for the day or occasion.

I hope to inspire you with my words.
    Words have power.
    At any age, you ca
n (and should) make changes to make your life better.

But they’re positive words; they will keep you on track.

I hope the words I pick do help you.

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>

The reason I have not gone many places to write you about is that. my van was in need of repair. The battery and cables were not functioning right and the van would run out of juice. Now that it is fixed we will be traveling more. But, we have been tooling around in Beth’s vehicle.

9/24—Today I shaved my beard, which has been growing for some months, as you know. It was the longest I have had facial hair. So, I was shaving it off, when I got halfway I changed my mind. You will see photos.

I’ve done this before some years ago, having half a beard. It’s funny, people seldom look other people in the face; hardly anyone even mentioned anything about my half-beard. Of course, I was just doing more Kit-fun, I don’t care what anyone thinks about me.

How about you, would you do such a thing. Although, this might be difficult for you ladies.

I would love to hear from you!
