    INTRO TO THIS WEEK

No new photos this week; I will be including a few from my past travels; enjoy.

From my book series, “Beyond Your Potential.”

A sense of confidence enhances your life in numerous ways. From relationships to business dealings and any other area of life, your confidence will bring you closer to success. You will live a fuller, more contented, and abundant supplementary life.

A firm confidence will make you stand out as the leader you are.

As your confidence grows, your good influence over others will grow too. Others will look up to you and expect more from you, and you will be able to supply more to them. Over time, you will recognize intrinsic and extrinsic motivations to have such confidence and the responsibility that comes with this drive forward.

There are two types of drive: intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation is the internal motivation that tells you to meet your personal needs. Things like juggling, running, or pleasure-seeking activities are based on innate drive. We do these skills because we like them, not because we are required to do them.

Extrinsic motivation is when you are encouraged by external influences given or controlled by someone else. Many people are extrinsically motivated to go to work every day solely because they get paid to do so.

If we can find ways to build our intrinsic motivation to go to work every day, we can go further in our careers and lives than we ever thought we could. We can do this by, perhaps, building our confidence and earning more respect from our peers and, therefore, feeling accomplished and like we want to accomplish even more; this concept applies to all aspects of life.

Confidence is not something you have naturally; it comes through practice. Even if we enjoy our work and have mastered the art of intrinsic motivation, we may still encounter things we don’t like doing, such as disciplining other employees for job performance issues or having to fire someone or lay someone off.

We sometimes have to do undesirable tasks as part of our jobs, so we have to find the confidence and the motivation within ourselves to get through the more depressing things in life. That’s where intrinsic motivation is vital.

Confidence will factor in when you have work you don’t like to do. If you apply yourself and confidently do the best job, no matter how mundane or upsetting the job may be, you will eventually learn to like what you are doing regardless.

To learn to like your job or any other aspect of your life that currently isn’t your ideal thing to be doing, train yourself to do something with a different heart, with confidence, and with intrinsic motivations.

When I used to perform professionally as a juggler, I would have to look deep inside myself to find confidence in my juggling ability as well as the confidence within my ability as a performer.

Most everyone, at one time or another, has seen a street performer or a speaker deliver their performance with little confidence – it’s not very entertaining to watch – and even can be quite disturbing.

The following are fifteen traits of you as the confident person you are:
If you don’t already have these traits, they can be developed.

1 – You try new things. As you know, familiarity is the best teacher. Try new things all the time to allow you to evolve as a person.

2 – You accept change. You cannot get from it; change is the only invariable. As a highly confident person, you may not always like the changes occurring. Do your best to accept the changes and do your best to ride the wave of change.

3 – You have a strong sense of self. You know what you like and what you don’t. You have most likely built a strong sense of self by living a broad life and having various experiences. Stretch yourself for more and new experiences all the time.

4 – You learn from your past without dwelling on the memories. History will play a role in helping us move ahead in life, but not if we get fixed in our past.

5 – You go after your goals and dreams. Drive forward as you can toward your good future, always reaching for more toward your results.

6 – You have a strong sense of individual limits. Don’t attempt to satisfy others to make them happy. You must see your results and keep yourself happy.

7 – You distinguish “mistakes” as learning opportunities. Don’t beat yourself up for your mistakes; realize that every slip-up is a chance to learn ways to be victorious the next time. As a juggler, when you drop the ball, pick it up, learn, and continue.

8 – You take risks. You make informed choices even if there is some risk involved. Know how to differentiate between a gamble and a risk. Get ready as much as possible and then go forward for those risks you feel are worth the effort.

9 – You refuse to be under self-pity. As a highly confident person, you refuse to let the difficulties make you feel victimized. Of course, you sometimes feel sorry for yourself, but it is important not to linger in self-pity.

10 – You can be alone with your thoughts. Being on Earth can be quite a lonely place at times. Live your life without needing to fill every minute with a conversation with others or using technologies (cell phones, e-mail, texting, yelling loud, etc.) After all, each of us is finding our direction.

11 – You trust your instincts. Our mind will help guide us to make the best decisions. Trusting your instincts helps you to make better choices; therefore, we have a better life.

12 – You take care of yourself. You must treat your body with esteem by giving it a high quality diet in the form of healthy food, relaxation, fresh air, and activity.

13 – You enhance others, not degrade them. As a confident person, you don’t need to build yourself up b putting others down.

14 – You don’t beat yourself up. Of course, you are not perfect. Even the most confident of us have weak moments. Dust yourself off and keep going.

15 – You celebrate your successes and the accomplishments of others. Indeed confident people are not envious and back away from other people’s successes. They celebrate others’ achievements. Now, it’s time to get out there and do something incredible that you can rejoice in!

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK

A few times in my life, I have gone through tragic accidents, and I keep going. Currently, I am sick with something like the flu that makes me want to just die. But, life goes on, and I know better days are ahead.

After getting hit by a truck and going through a 37-day coma, after awakening, I expected I would get right back to where I was in my juggling, I had to readjust my expectations I had of myself. I loved the art of juggling, I could longer juggle as I did.

Have you seen the video of my act before the accident?
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZALVajgH6Q&t=348s&ab_channel=KitSummers

    Life keeps
taking us down routes we would never travel if it were up to us. It’s strange how we outgrow what we once thought we couldn’t live without (like my juggling), and then we fall in love with what we didn’t even know we wanted. You never know what to expect.

    Don’t be afraid.
    Have hope.
    Trust the journey.

Don’t let your expectations of how life “should be” blind you to the beauty of your life.

And, of course, if you’re struggling with trusting the journey and taming your expectations right now, know that you are not alone.

Many of us are here with you, also working hard to let go. First, find more presence and acceptance, and get our thinking back on track.

Always our choice, see the good or see the bad. Maybe it’s either not good, or not good enough. Control your mind; you can do it!

This is how many of us live our lives – unhappily – many of us feel let down, disappointed, and unexcited about most everything.

    What, exactly, are you expecting?
    Does nothing meet your expectations?

Mindfulness people often refer to this as a “beginner’s mind,” but it’s the result of thinking free of your needless, stifling expectations. Yes, lowering your expectations and still having a great life is easy.

Until you’ve lived with expectations, most of your life is stuck in an endless cycle of experiences you barely like or notice. Grow through beyond the expectations you may have of yourself. Keep moving forward in a strong way.

Most of what we describe as our “biggest problems” directly result from how we react to life on an average day. Yes, sometimes there are significant tragedies to cope with, but most of the time, the only real tragedy is our weak thinking and resulting behavior in the present moment.

Exercising your mental strength—the inner elasticity of your mindit is critical! And you don’t have to be born mentally strong. You can develop this vital character trait with daily practice. Yes, you can live a better life.

    Is it easy?
    Not exactly.
    Is it worth it?
    Absolutely!

And it all starts with facing your present moment, with genuine presence and acceptance.

Even when times are comparatively good, one of the most demanding challenges we face is to simply live in our own skin—to be right here, right now, regardless of where we are. See that we are each different and “choose” to have a better life.

Too often, we aimlessly distract ourselves with anything and everything—food, juggling, liquor, television, shopping,, gossip news, social networks, video games, smartphones, iPads, etc.—anything to keep us from being fully present.

Don’t see the bad things that happen as the end.
Learn from each incident to do better next time.

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK

I’ve said in the past that you are rich if you have or make enough to live the life you want.
You may wish to many certain things; you will find a way to obtain them.

Since childhood, we started associating our happiness “with” achievement and things. Based on our desires, we set a mark. Then, we put off our joy until we achieve that mark. We cannot enjoy the result; we have to be happy with the development journey.

Our list of desires is always complete. We never seem to be satisfied with the things we have. We want more, always more. Once a wish is fulfilled, we have another, then another. Our aim should be to find satisfaction in the things we currently have.

Often, we are overwhelmed by our never-ending desires in life. We keep struggling with multiple things at once, usually. We lose our focus, and things can get out of control. We sometimes engage in achievements so much that we forget to enjoy life.

Our aim should be to limit our desires. Do not worry; less desire does not mean that there is no desire at all. It is all right to have passions in life. What matters most is the quality of selfishness, not the number of wishes. Keep your desires low if you need them.

When you have less desire, you will focus on what is most important to you. Focus on the things that give you inner rewards, not external ones. The quality of our desires will set the quality of our life.

Christmas celebration is in a few days. Even better than gifts, provide services to your family and friends as you can. This will bring a better day for you, your family, and your friends.

    Your Homework >>
Make a list of the things you desire.
Why do you want to buy or get those items?
    Which of th
ese things do you want because your friend has it?
What can you trade for what you desire, or work for?

It is all right to buy the latest gadgets and stylish clothes. It
can be good to own a Mercedes or iPhone. However, think for a while about how these things bring you happiness. Is it making you happy when you own/use it or show it to others?

For your wants, look to find the item sold as used. Of course, the cost will be much lower, and, after you have the “want,” you may decide you do not want it after all. Now, check your desire list.

How many of these items do you need?
Which ones of them do you just want to show-off?
Today you may have many things that you
    once desired.
    Are you satisfied with them
    now?
Do your wants continue to grow?
    Are you enjoying them?
    Follow your desires,
and do not forget to be grateful for what you already have. Stop running after things all the time. Enjoy your life journey.

Important – Pay off any current debts before you go after any wants and desires.

Myself, I have no debt whatsoever.
Credit cards are paid off each month.

If you want to become rich, minimizing your costs and being more intentional with your time and money is essential. Spending intentionally and minimizing your costs will require you to keep organized and keep a budget.

If you do this, you can track precisely how much and where you spend. Develop a prioritized checklist for spending what’s coming in. This includes allotting money to debt reduction, savings, fun, emergencies, etc.”

Your goal should be to minimize costs as much as possible so you can put that money toward building wealth. You must hungrily find ways to limit your lifestyle costs and save 25% or more of your income.

Always remember that it does not take money or “things” to live the life that you want.

    12/18—
Beth and I were invited to a Christmas party tonight. What a joyful event Don and Teresa Atwell put together. Our house is the only other house on this street that is somewhat in the wilderness. About a dozen cars with people showed up for the festive get-together.

Of course, I had to hike down to our house to retrieve some magic tricks to entertain the crowd, which went well. I always love performing, wherever it takes place.

12/19—Aww, my surgery. Things turned out well, I am healing. The bandaging was not done very well, and I had to go in today to have it redone. Better, but still not very good. I will see the surgeon again on Dec 27; I will let you know . . .

12/20—Today, my daughters sent photos of them wearing the scarves Beth made for and sent to them. They look fabulous, yes?  April is on the left. Of course, Jasmine on the right.

12/22—Why, just today, I heard from my Humana Health Insurance. They sent information that, along with providing my health insurance, there will be fifty bucks available each month for food, medicines, or paying a utility bill. What a great surprise!

12/23Today, I was thinking about my past.
This shows me that there are so many ways to come upon currency.
Happily self-employed throughout my life >>

I hope this shows you that you can earn a living at just about anything. Don’t stay in a job or career that you do not like. Discover what you truly love and find a way to earn a living doing that.

One way to start loving your job or career is to become an expert in that field. Study and learn every detail of that job or technique. I guarantee you, not only will you turn out better work, but you will also love what you do.

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK

Two hundred weekly blog posts in this series were sent to you, not missing one week.
I do hope you enjoy my writings.

To recover from my accident and 37-Day coma, I chose to be fun and silly in life—a part of me, anyway.

Humans so often are very serious beings. We contemplate existence and plan for our future, live, eat, juggle, open bank accounts, and pay bills. But no one can arguably immerse themselves solely in serious matters for too long, not even the most unyielding of officials. Perhaps that’s why we’ve evolved to utilize an exceptional talent—our silliness!

    You see, e
verybody can be silly (and should be) at some time in their life; it’s just that it’s not identical to others’ silliness. Knowing when you can and should be silly takes a lot of social power. That willingness to do silly and playful things can be like saying, “We’re going to relax the troubles of the world now.”

You see: It’s OK to be a little goofy sometimes (I try and aim for that). It even may be necessary. Being silly, playful, and having a lighthearted attitude helps us to cope with stress. Being able to laugh at ourselves and break our habits of taking ourselves too seriously can be beneficial.

There’s real freedom and freeing in laughter and being goofy. And when there’s no judgment of being silly, no worry about what someone might say, it’s a real boost to a young person’s self-confidence, fun, and creativity. It’s liberating and fun.

How being silly can help >>

    • It makes us smarter.
    • Silliness can reduce stress.
    • It will balance your hormone levels.
    • Gives you more energy.
    • Boosts your attractiveness.
    • It improves your leadership skills.
    • Laughter relaxes the body and relieves tension.
    • Being silly brings light to darkness and smooths life.
    • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins – the body’s natural feel-good hormones.
    • Laughter boosts the immune system by decreasing stress hormones and increasing immune cells, disease, and infection-fighting antibodies.
    • Laughter protects your heart by improving the function of blood vessels and increasing blood flow, both of which can help protect you from heart problems and rough edges.

Those who are spontaneous, creative, fun-loving, outgoing, and lighthearted, appear to be better at coping with stress and finding fresh solutions to problems. The best thing is, you don’t need any special skills or preparation to be playful. All you need to do is play.

There’s absolute freedom in laughter and being goofy. And when there’s no judgment of being silly, no worry about what someone might say, it’s a real boost to a young person’s self-confidence and creativity. It’s liberating and fun. In a word, stop being so seriness.

Bring your fun-loving child back into your life.

What new stories are you ready to write?

    WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU! >>
Inspirational quotes and motivational sayings have a unique ability to change the way we feel about life and can change our thinking.

I find them so interesting, challenging, and essential on our path to joy and happiness and finding ways to inspire ourselves and others.

Inspirational quotes and ideas give us a quick and timely burst of wisdom to get our focus back, offering the inspiration needed for the day or occasion.

I hope to inspire you with my words. Words have power.

Are you accomplishing what you want before your eventual death?
At any age, you can (and should) make changes to make your life better.

How you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible for you, determines everything that happens in your life. It all derives from your quality of thinking.

When you improve the quality of your thinking,
you change the quality of your life—sometimes instantly!

Just as positive words can make someone smile, and/or a well-timed amusing quote can make someone laugh, your thoughts react to the world in real-time. You have this control!

You have complete control over only one thing in the universe — Your Thinking — and that’s where motivational quotes come in!

To keep your motivation, you have to use each day as an opportunity for improvement, to be better, and to get a little bit closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work—and with your busy schedule—next to impossible. But you can do it!

    Self-talk is essential—THINK RIGHT!
Motivational words, yes, they’re just words.
But they’re positive words; they will keep you on track.

EVEN IF YOU START LATE, ARE UNCERTAIN, OR ARE DIFFERENT –
    YOU CAN STILL FIND SUCCESS!
Don’t forget; you are only as young as the last time you changed your mind!
Keep your thoughts and self-talk fun and productive, and always reach for more advancement.

REMEMBER, VERY LITTLE IS NEEDED TO MAKE A GREAT LIFE.

I HOPE THE FOLLOWING WORDS ABOUT BEING SILLY INSPIRE YOU >>

    Living without Laughing isn’t living.
    Be silly.
    Be honest.
    Be Kind.
    ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans.
It is lovely to be silly at the right moment.
    ― Horace

Read, every day, something no one else is reading.
Think, every day, something no one else is thinking.
Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do.
It is terrible for the mind to be part of unanimity continually.
    ― Christopher Morley

The word ‘silly’ derives from the Greek ‘selig’ meaning ‘blessed.’
There is something sacred in being able to be silly.
    ― Paul Pearsall

    “Do a loony-goony dance
    Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
    That ain’t been there before.”
― Shel Silverstein, A Light in the Attic

Being silly is still allowed, not excluded by adulthood. What’s excluded by adulthood is thoughtlessness, so be thoughtful and silly.
    ― Hank Green

Have you ever heard a blindfolded octopus unwrap a cellophane-covered bathtub?
    ― Norton Juster

Mix a little foolishness with your prudence; it’s good to be silly at the right moment.
    — Horace

Life is a jest, and all things show it; I thought so once, but now I know it.
    — John Gay

Give me the young man who has brains enough to make a fool of himself!
    — Robert Louis Stevenson

If people did not sometimes do silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done.
    — Ludwig Wittgenstein

I was young and foolish then; now I am old and foolisher.
    — Mark Twain

Happiness and the absurd are two sons of the same earth. They are inseparable.
    — Albert Camus

Children have one kind of silliness, as you know, and grown-ups have another kind.
    — C.S. Lewis

Think, every day, something no one else is thinking.
Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do.
It is bad for the mind to be part of unanimity continually.
    — Christopher Morley

Until you’re ready to look foolish, you’ll never have the possibility of being great.
    — Cher

The best actors, I think, have a childlike quality. They have a sort of ability to lose themselves. There’s still some silliness.
    — Kenneth Branagh

Most grown-ups forget what it was like to be a kid. I vowed that I would never forget. I also found that child’s play— not considered serious, but goofy — was the stuff I liked to do, so I still do it as an adult.
    — Matt Groening

I remember a friend many years ago who had taped a sign to his refrigerator: There’s a dream dreaming us. If you try to think about what that means it makes your mind silly, but that silliness is good.
    — Natalie Goldberg

[Silliness is] very, very important. Very important. The other side of it is taking yourself terribly seriously. Which I think occasionally, you know, if you’re a brain surgeon, I wouldn’t want him to be silly when he’s doing the operation. But afterward, if he wants to go laugh around, that’s fine. There’s got to be a silly side to all of it.
    — Michael Palin

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
Each week goes by so quickly, don’t you think?
And, time seems to be going faster all the time.
Do you keep track of what you do each day?
Do this for a few weeks, and you will see your time differently.
    ****
12/10Found some small dead trees that were in great shape. Eventually, I will put them in our bedroom, which I will make into the nature room. You know how much I like nature and the wilderness. I will make this into our nature preserve.

These trees can be used to hold various items—some of Beth’s jewelry and clothes, perhaps. People go to museums and parks, so why not live in that atmosphere?

For now, I planted the dead trees in one of the gardens.
Wouldn’t it be funny if they started growing again?

12/12Beth found a place that might want rabbits! Beth likes the rabbits when they are very young, raising them from kits. (Yes, baby rabbits are named after me!)
The school is an agricultural school that will teach kids how to raise and show the bunnies. Beth likes the rabbits when they are very young; then, they can go to homes and schools.
They are so cute at a young age.
    Do you want one?
    Here is the school >>

12/13—The door to our bathroom was sticking; I saw that the bottom was too low and scraped on the floor. I took the door off, cut about two centimeters off the bottom, and put the door back on the mounting.

Many would simply let a problem like a door go on forever. It was actually a quick fix and works perfectly again. Do you have problems like this that you have been putting off? Just
fix it, get it fixed, and make your life better.

12/14—There is a place on the palm of my hand that, about once a day, becomes extraordinarily painful for about five minutes. I suppose I could live with this for the rest of my life, but I won’t.

Last month I went to a hand doctor, and, after seeing an MRI of the hand, the doc saw a minor mass right next to an artery. That was the culprit!

Dr. John A King discovered and will be doing the surgery today.
Here is about Dr. King >>
    https://health.usnews.com/doctors/john-king-538284

Yes, I will go in today to have surgery on my hand to remove this, “mass.” The doc could injure a nerve, and my hand won’t work anymore, but I believe he will do good. So, I am typing these words before the surgery while I can still use my left hand.

Like the door I wrote about, don’t just live your life with something you do not like.
Fix it so that life is better for you.

12/15—I could not sleep, awakening at midnight; up for the day I am. By getting the surgery yesterday, I will no longer have pain in my left hand; I also can not move my left arm—AT ALL! The doctor must have cut a major nerve.

Yes, I cannot move my left arm. Very strange for me to type this with just one hand and it is very time-consuming. My fingers can move a little, but that is nothing to type with.

And, when I sit or walk, the arm dangles to the side; very scary.
    ————————
The above was written in the early morn; I am much better now. Getting feeling and movement back in the arm. It must have been the nerve block they used, supraclavicular; The supraclavicular block provides anesthesia and analgesia to the upper extremity below the shoulder. It is an excellent choice for elbow and hand surgery.

AND, OF COURSE—I CANNOT JUGGLE—AT ALL!

When I walk or sit, the arm dangles next to me so that I cannot move it. Also, I seem to have a ghost hand. I feel the hand in one place, and it is in another. And, I thought my other accidents were terrible!

This scared me very much. As I awoke at midnight, my arm was dangling over the side of the bed; very alarming.

12/16—Friday, today, what to write, what to right?

My arm is back to normal today. As you can probably tell, I was pretty alarmed at what my arm was doing. Panic had set in, but with time everything turned out right. This makes me think of how we use our time and worry. I must keep my mind on track – as we all should.

    How about you?

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK

For this blog, we did not really go anywhere that is photogenic, so I will be including some from past travels.

As I’ve written before, I think no one should be allowed to die until they do something to add to life on earth.

From helping clean up your area to serving the older person down the street to teaching others better ways, there is much you can do to add to the world in a great way.

Remember, no one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.

With my books and workshops and teaching thousands to juggle worldwide, I believe I have changed the juggling world for the better. By publishing this blog, I hope I am helping and adding to your life.

Together we can make this world a much better place.

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
Each week goes by so quickly, don’t you think?
And time seems to be going faster all the time.
Do you keep track of what you do each day?
Do this for a few weeks; you will see your time differently.

12/3—Thinking back, it is difficult to remember what I did this week. Is it that way for you, too?

12/5We finished the painting in the office. Boy, the whole house if looking fantastic with a coat of paint in new colors. Red, yellow and blue, can you imagine? Who would have thought these colors would go well together?

    Tooth time
I’ve found a great dentist who will work with me on the cost, keeping it low, which will really help. I trust that he will do me right in his work, a great feeling.
The dentist I found used to be an engineer. He wanted to help people, more, so he went back to college and studied teeth and how to fix them. A very kind man with a very big heart.

12/6Today, I went to see the surgeon who will be performing surgery on my hand next week. There is a small place that generates tremendous pain at least once a day. They did an MRI image of my hand, and he saw a tumor, which has to come out.

I have no concerns; amazing things are performed these days in the medical field.

We decided to have a guy come and sweep our chimney; yes, a chimney sweep. He took things apart and saw that the people who installed the chimney did insert things wrong.

So, Beth called the company that did the work, and they will be coming out to make things right. For four years, Beth lived without a working heating system. She used her fireplace and a space heater in the bedroom. She had six dogs and a couple of heavy sweatshirts to keep her warm at night.

One day, a very good friend (thanks, Lee) insisted on helping Beth with her heating and had a fireplace insert installed for a more beneficial way of heating her house until she could afford to have the HVAC fixed.

No one has checked out the insert since it was installed in 2019, and thankfully, we did it before the house burned down from wires shorting out. But, even without heat, she is alright, now that I have come into the picture.

12/7—We found a local guy who sharpens and takes care of chainsaws, which I need to prepare wood for the fire. He told me there was a broken part and that I should be careful using the saw. Being normal size chainsaw, it took me to hold the wood, and Beth would cut.
    Here is Nelson — https://nelcyn.com/

I take no chances, right away I went to Amazon and purchased this >>
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BNJQ2L9?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
A smaller and safer saw for the wood.

12/8—Rain has been coming down nonstop, as happened today, too. I did have a problem though. As I was going through a somewhat empty parking lot, I looked up at the building that I was on my way to, and crashed straight into a light pole.

I did not even see it. Is my mind or vision going bad?
The van is damaged but still driveable.
Beth may not allow me to drive anymore. HA!
