    INTRO TO THIS WEEK

Change, we all go through changes, I’ve been through many.
From my book series, “Beyond Your Potential” >>

    Make the Change!
Don’t be stuck in a job you hate, living in an area that disgusts you, in a relationship that is dead and going nowhere. You are never happy, you are never contented, and you are never satisfied.

This does not have to be!
If you need to, if it’s necessary, decide today, this moment, you are going to start your new life fresh. Yes, it might take money to do just that, but start anyway, and you will find a way. This is your life, don’t waste it in misery.

    Change how you can!
Scrutinize your life and change things that are holding you back from progressing, things that you would “rather” do instead of what you “need” to do. When you change the things you can and abandon the things you can’t, you create space in your life for more joy, more expansiveness, less stress, and less bitterness.

    A Fresh Start
At times in your life, and/or your work, you are crying out for a fresh new start (I can hear you now.) There is something magically freeing about wiping the slate clean and starting anew; as I had to do a few times. We only get this one life; you must change if you need to do so to stay happy. You may question your inherent capabilities after so many times when you may have failed. Yet, you can do it, you can change. Try a different direction in your life to change; make your life more interesting. I hope this book has provided ideas and ways to make change you need, my friend.

    Stay with forward momentum
A fresh start begins with the hope that this time things will turn out better, or at least different, than how they currently are. Many people attempt geographical fresh starts. Others get excited with the freshness of a new relationship. Then there is that kid down the street with that new juggling trick. For some, it’s just reading a new book. More than half of us have started diets and exercise programs dozens of times. With every fresh start we blindly hope that this time will be different. Starting anew will mean nothing if you don’t make it the top priority and stay with the forward movement. There are so many ways and directions that we can aim with this newness. Starting afresh is not a one-time thing. Bring a bright new light into your existence often to create excellent life.

    You’re at the Top!
Look at that, you are a top CEO at an international company. You make $1,800,026 a year. You live in a huge house with a wonderful family. Yet, you hate your life. Think about it, you have been intelligent enough to have driven yourself up to your current position, you must have smarts enough to change and get the life you want, now go for it! For many people money can be a factor, but in life, money is not as valuable as experiences and love.

    Here “we” go – Again.
Some suggestions on beginning your new life:

    • The first step in starting a new life is picturing the life you want. Where do you live? What kind of work are you doing? What type of relationship do you find yourself in? How are you dressing? What kind of friends do you have? What kind of toothpaste do you use? Examine the minute details of the life you want and write them down. Now, you don’t have to change every part of your current life, you can change small details, too. It’s your life, it’s your choice.
    • Define what living your dream life means to you. It’s not as hard as it sounds. Just picture yourself at the end of your life and look back. Is this the life you truly wanted? What words would you want others to use to describe how you lived your life and who you are as a person? Also, ask, “How did I add to other people’s lives?”
    • Sure, you have obligations. Decide what is more valuable, your commitments or your life. You may have a family; make them part of the change, too. It will add to their life as the change adds to yours.
    • Every time you think “in the future” or “when I have time” – STOP – ask yourself, “Why not now, this instant?” Now, all of a sudden, look at that, you’re dead. All your ideas never came to be. Think about what you will tell yourself in years to come, “I always wanted to, but never did.” Start doing the things you always planned to do; start now. It’s your life, don’t waste it! Choose to start a new life every morning when you awaken. Plan one thing you will do that day to make yourself feel alive, something new and creative. Start today, my friend.
    • Find somewhere else to live. That’s right, make the move! You’ve always liked the mountains, or you’ve always liked the city, or you’ve always liked the beach, or you’ve always wanted to live on a farm. Nothing is holding you back; move yourself to the place you like.
    • Change your name and your identity, as my sister did. This can be done, legally, for a small fee. Doing so might free up your mind to get back on track in your life.
    • Get the right attitude of the new you, the old you is a remembrance. You are an altogether new person now. You can be who and what you want. Have the confidence to go where you want with your future. Do whatever it takes to make you a better person.
    • Make yourself a promise to make this change a top priority in your life. If you don’t, the life changes will never happen, and you will be stuck living the same awful life. What are four steps you can take today to jump-start your upcoming change?
    • There are no limits to the number of times you can start fresh. You can completely start anew over and over again. You can and will always find the inspiration necessary.
    • Change your life; you will thank yourself over and over again. What sounds better – this new life or your old life that was going nowhere and you did not like life at all?

You Are On Your Way – Congratulations!

You are on your way to becoming a new you. Thanks for allowing me to be part of your amazing change. You are happier now, and you are more satisfied with life. Turn to someone you know who is living as you used to, and maybe, hating life. Motivate them to make the change to improve their lives and help them along. As you do this, it will add much to their life, and add much to your life, as well.

LIFE IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME – ARE YOU KEEPING UP?

    WORDS TO INSPIRE YOU! >>
Inspirational quotes and motivational sayings have an amazing ability to change the way we feel about life and can change our thinking.

I find them so interesting, challenging, and important on our path to joy and happiness and finding ways to inspire ourselves and others.

Inspirational quotes and ideas give us a quick and timely burst of wisdom to get our focus back, offering the inspiration needed for the day or occasion.

I hope to inspire you with my words. Words have power.

Are you accomplishing what you want before your eventual death?
At any age, you can (and should) make changes to make your life better.

How you think and feel about yourself, including your beliefs and expectations about what is possible for you, determines everything that happens in your life. It all derives from your quality of thinking.

When you improve the quality of your thinking,
you change the quality of your life—sometimes instantly!

Just as positive words can make someone smile, and/or a well-timed amusing quote can make someone laugh, your thoughts react to the world in real-time. You have this control!

You have complete control over only one thing in the universe — Your Thinking — and that’s where motivational quotes come in!

To keep your motivation, you have to use each day as an opportunity for improvement, to be better, and to get a little bit closer to your goals. It might sound like a lot of work—and with your busy schedule—next to impossible. But you can do it!

    Self-talk is so important—THINK RIGHT!
Motivational words, yes, they’re just words.
But they’re positive words; they will keep you on track.

Don’t forget, you are only as young as the last time you changed your mind!

Keep your thoughts and self-talk fun and productive, and always reach for more advancement.

EVEN IF YOU START LATE, ARE UNCERTAIN, OR DIFFERENT –
    YOU CAN STILL FIND SUCCESS!
VERY LITTLE IS NEEDED TO MAKE A GREAT LIFE.

I HOPE THE FOLLOWING WORDS ABOUT CHANGE INSPIRE YOU >>
It’s often said that change is the only constant in life. Yet humans are evolutionarily predisposed to resist change because of the risk associated with it. Despite this resistance to change, it is more important than ever.

Napoleon once said, “One must change one’s tactics every 10 years if one wishes to maintain one’s superiority.” In today’s society, the pace of change is immensely faster, and it will only continue to accelerate.

Organizations and people that don’t embrace change are bound to lose ground and stagnate. When you are anxiously anticipating a change—or amid a challenging one—grab one of these quotes to help you plow through it.

The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking. -Albert Einstein

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts. -Arnold Bennett

Change is inevitable. Change is constant. -Benjamin Disraeli

When you’re finished changing, you’re finished. -Benjamin Franklin

If you don’t like change, you will like irrelevance even less. -General Eric Shinseki
Change means that what was before wasn’t perfect. People want things to be better. -Esther Dyson

Resistance at all cost is the most senseless act there is. -Friedrich Durrenmatt

If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow, we aren’t really living. -Gail Sheehy

Those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. -George Bernard Shaw

When people shake their heads because we are living in a restless age, ask them how they would like to life in a stationary one, and do without change. -George Bernard Shaw

I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is they must change if they are to get better. -Georg C. Lichtenberg

He who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects progress is the cemetery. -Harold Wilson

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
10/8—Worked on the bunny hutch today.
    I love my projects.

10/9—Better and better the hutches are looking.

10/10—Beth was not feeling well today. I took care of her as I could. She took a sick day. How does she take a sick day when she is retired? But, she did report to me—her boss.

10-11—Just in this area, there are so many new places to see around here. Beth and I went exploring, we saw great sites—barns, fields, cows, chickens—so much. How about where you are, have you explored?

Tonight Beth treated us to all you can eat Chinese food. When I go to one of these places I do eat—all I can! I did eat much, good food. If you’re in the area, give them a try.

10/12—As you know from last week, today I was going to have surgery on my hand. I got all lay-ed out and they were going to start putting me to sleep. Then they saw my arms. I had been working on the bunny hutch and had many cuts and injuries, mostly from the ends of the wire. So, the surgery will come later, you will hear.

Back to the woods on Mill Pond road. So much to see, much beauty.

10/13—Our programs were not coming in. The cable guy, not Jim Carrey, but Tripp from Abbeville, came by to straighten things out. He told me he never did learn how to juggle, but he always wanted to. Beth showed him the article in the newspaper about my entertaining an audience at the library, which I wrote about last week.

So, of course, I had to instruct him, and he did learn fast. He was excited to learn
more about me as Beth told him about my past juggling history. We had a fun time.

10/14—Back to Lowes to get more supplies to finish the hutch. Making much progress.

Each week goes by so quickly. You have control of your life, make things different for your life daily, and live your life to the fullest!

    10/1—
The big storm turned out to be nil. This often happens with big storms; the media says the worst it could be, then it is small.

10/5—Beth took me out for Mexican food; how nice. But it was plain and did not have much taste. I have made Mexican, good Mexican, anyone can do it. It just surprises me that any restaurant would just serve food as we had.

It all goes back to reaching for excellence.

Tonight was a cast party for the show I was recently a part of. Great to see all the people I worked with to put on a superb show.

10/6—SHOWTIME for Kit. The show at the local library went quite well. It’s been some time since I performed, and it felt good. A small audience, but they seemed to love it.

Beth wrote this for the local paper >>

“The McCormick County Library recently hosted local author Kit Summers, a motivational speaker who has had a most interesting life.

At 23 years old, Kit was headlining at Bally’s in Atlantic City and was noted as one of the top 20 jugglers in the USA. He was one of 6 jugglers who could juggle 7 clubs, which at the time was a world record.

Kit entertained the audience with some magic tricks, some juggling, but mostly with his life story of being hit by a truck at the peak of his career, putting him into a 37-day coma. He had to learn to walk, talk, eat and juggle all over again, but with persistence, he proved that we all have what it takes to live a life of excellence. If you want something, you should set goals, plan your future, and love what you do. Kit’s life has been spent trying to help other people realize their potential.

For the past six years, Kit has traveled the country living in his van and writing a weekly blog to inspire others. He stopped at all of the national parks in every state except Alaska, but he is saving that one to go with his new wife. (He visited Hawaii’s national parks previous to his van travels)

As he traveled, he stopped at local libraries to use their Wi-Fi. Going from Florida to Texas, he came to McCormick to visit a new friend, Gary DuTeau, in Plum Branch, whom he met through his blog. Kit went to the McCormick Library to use their WiFi and met a librarian who was retiring in a week. They struck up a conversation, then a friendship, and they are happily married as of 2/22/22. Kit is now a resident of McCormick county and plans to share his story in other venues throughout the area.

Kit has published 3 books, which he made available to the audience. To learn more about Kit Summers, visit his website at >> kitsummers.com.”

10/7—Today, I worked on the new bunny hutch. I will be building this to be able to hold 7 rabbits comfortably. As usual, with no directions, I am finding my way.

With various things I have built, I have metal screening with very sharp portions. I keep leaking (getting jabbed, blood flowing.)

    ******************
YOUR CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK >>
For a few days this week, go for some long walks, preferably in the wilderness. This will be good for your body and mind.

On Wednesday, I will be going in for surgery on my hand. About once a day I have some massive pain in just one small area in my hand. The pain is always in the same place. The doctor said it was a “mass”, he will remove that.

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK
    As I have heard before,
“I’m dying! – but so are you.”

When I was young I never even thought about death and that it might happen to me. Although, because of some major accidents, I have been at death’s door a few times. Of course, this made me think of my upcoming death.

Being older now, of course, I see death coming. More and more friends are passing away. This gives me the drive to push ahead and do all I can to make a better life for myself, as well as others.

    How about you?
Do you ever think about your death?
Are you doing as much as you can now to add to the world?

It’s a harsh reality, but there is no reliable evidence that anything happens to us after death other than returning our atoms to the universe for reuse. After death, there is nothing more, kaput you are.

Personally, I think cemeteries are a waste of space on our small Earth. And, I think cremation is a waste of energies. Billions of graves in the world, holding onto the memories is good, taking of space is not.

For myself, after death, I would like my body to be lay-ed out in the wilderness naked so that bugs and small animals can feast on my remains. First, though, any parts of me that can help someone else shall be taken from my body and used.

9/25—Beth’s Happy Birthday Day! Dunkin Donuts is on the list for Birthday joy.
Yet, they were out of one of Beth’s favorites, no more custard filled.
We have to drive a distance to get to any donut shop, so this is a special treat. For me, spending time with Beth is a joy.
9/26—As I was out doing stuff, I was wearing shorts that had small pockets. My wallet was in one of them, but that didn’t last. Somewhere it fell out and, once again, I started planning to replace it and all the stuff in it.

This happened not too long ago, so, perhaps, I am used to it? In the morning on the following day, I got a call from Rusty—he had found my wallet! We met up, and I got all back, including the $65 bucks inside.

I gave Rusty a copy of my book and Beth had just made some chocolate chip cookies, which he loved.

Rusty did the right thing, as I would do.
I hope you would return a wallet with everything in it, too.

    Beth continues to enjoy quilting.

    9/28-30I am performing!
Juggling, magic, and comedy for the three nights at this church dinner theater. All three nights were sold out; great audiences are there. I love performing and would like to go back to doing more.

The storm has struck. Today we are expecting a lot of wind and rain. We have battened down the hatches and are ready.

So, today I prepared things for the upcoming storm. There is a chance that power will be out, so I set up two camping stoves to heat food when needed. As you know, for about six years I lived in and traveled in my van all over the US. I was totally off-grid, so I know how to handle things.

The other day I was out walking and, ahead of me, I saw some trash on the sidewalk. Knowing there would be a trash can in the route ahead, I picked up this trash and deposited it into the can as I passed.

If everyone did something small like this to clean up the world, we would have a better earth. Please do.

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK
If I may be so bold as to ask:
“When was the last time you did something that made your heart
    beat faster?”
I don’t just mean singing out loud, juggling 5 balls, or riding a roller coaster; rather, it is a moment in which you summoned your self-assurance and bravely took that leap forward.

That’s what this week’s intention covers. To me, being bold is about believing in yourself and taking action. In practice, that might mean asserting yourself in day-to-day situations by asking for more of what you need and saying no to what you don’t, or simply seizing the moment and trying something new.

Being bold means being courageous in the face of challenges.

Not just that, being bold is a person who is always willing to take more and more risks. They believe in themselves and will put their best foot forward when it comes to finding success; that is you, yes?

But there may come times in life when we need some inspirational guidance or advice to keep going. Hoping my words help you in your pursuit of being bold.

You will find quotes about boldness later in this post. They will do some good and help you discover new will and determination to start being bold, not just today, but every day of your life!

Being bold has a genius and magic; boldness has genius power that you can use to dream big; you can begin projects and be inspired to do them excellently until it is complete.

Remember, you are only as young as the last time you changed your mind.

Keep your thoughts and self-talk fun and productive, and always reach for more advancement.

REMEMBER – Even if you start late, are uncertain, and/or different – YOU CAN STILL FIND SUCCESS!
VERY LITTLE IS NEEDED TO MAKE A GREAT LIFE.

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
    9/18—
Such lovely weather today. Being a Sunday, Beth has, for years, taken this day off just for Bethie. We had a delightful day just being with each other.

9-19—We have had a car and two vans for some time now. Beth had been a help to Mr. Butler for some years. Not too long ago he died, and his kids gave Mr. Butler’s van to Beth; such a kind and generous thing to do.

Here is the car with the van behind it.

Some years ago Beth bought her 2001 Chrysler Concorde, which runs very well. We decided to sell the vehicle. I went through every detail of the car and cleaned, buffed, and shinned it thoroughly. Her car turned out spectacular.

This often happens, when someone is going to sell their vehicle or house; they clean and fix up every detail of the said thing. I should have done that with the car, sooner. You see, why not fix your car or home to excellence while you can—NOW!

The car turned out wonderful. The second guy who saw the car ended up buying it for just a little less than what we were asking; more than Beth paid for it, though.

And, we found out later, this was a guy who sells cars for a living. So, he will go ahead and sell the car for more than he paid. I would love to find out what the car eventually went for.

Where I park my van is next to the carport, where Beth parks. Looks like some time ago someone had put rocks down. These have slowly spread and got to be too much. If you know me, you know that most of the time I like to be shoe-less; barefoot I am. The rocks were not nice to step on.

I took time to clear all the rocks from where I park my car so that I would not have to step on them when I walked to my van. Looks nicer, too.

You see, it’s these little things that add up and make a good life. If you can make all the small details of your life magnificent, it will make your entire life better.

9/20—I am going to be performing in a renaissance show! Today and Thursday were run-throughs of the show, which went quite well. I am juggling and also doing magic to entertain. A small part of the show, but always great to be back on stage!

9/21—For some time I have had a place on the palm of my hand that, about once a day, hurts horrendously. Last week I went in to have MRI scans of my hand done, met with Dr. John King today, and found out the results. He showed me a slightly darker place on my hand that he simply called a mass.

I scheduled a date next month when he will be doing surgery on the spot on my hand. Yes, the pain comes on enough to have this surgery performed. There is a slight chance that this could run into problems, but I trust things will turn out fine. Being a juggler, I do have my concerns.

9/22—Always trying to advance in our life and living, we found a kitchen table that will replace what we currently have and improve things. Yes, it is used, but will serve the purpose perfectly. Used things are usually at least half-price than new, but are like new and worth the better price.

I am in the process of painting and fixing up our old table and chairs. These should sell for a good price.

We have a large backyard that I want to make into our own paradise. Currently building a deck out of 2”x3” eight-foot boards, it is turning out quickly. I expect we will be spending a lot of time out there. The backyard is, basically, in the wilderness, with no houses or people anywhere around.

This is the back of the deck.
It is ready to be set into place, but it is very heavy, and I can’t put it in place by myself.
    Will you help?

I am also going to build a showering system to use the rainwater that we collect from the gutters. And, I will be building a firepit. We want to spend as much time outside as we can. We are already using the rainwater, after it is put through a filter, to drink.

9/23—Our only neighbors, Don and Teresa, have three puppies at their house. The puppies are such a pleasure. These guys love to play and nip at your fingers. What a joy they are.

I am greatly enjoying my projects—and there always seems to be more and more—a good thing!

    INTRO TO THIS WEEK
In recent blogs, I covered subjects such as death and God. I want my blogs to be here to inspire and help you bring on a better life.

A constant choice for each of us – to see the joy in life – or pain and difficulty. Look for and find the pleasure, joy, and happiness that is right there in from of you.

A few ways to bring yourself the happiness you are looking for >>

1 – Stop waiting to be happy.
There are always new opportunities to find happiness. Imagine life is like a train station. You have happy times that arrive around the clock. Chances are the opportunity to be happy has already arrived. Sometimes it’s right in front of you; keep looking.

No matter what is happening around you, you can feel happier, be more productive, attract success and enjoy yourself during the process. When you shift your focus and the way you think – your perspective changes. When shift happens, your life changes. So get your shift together.

2 – Make your self-care part of your daily routine.
Being able to take a moment for yourself to
make changes is something we all need to do now and then. Taking a timeout to give yourself a moment of relief or relaxation is only part of the battle. We carve out time for happy hour, but it ends up being less than happy because you are thinking about the last couple of emails you didn’t get to be there.

Learn to shine and make sure you’re not stressing about miscellaneous, small to-do’s while you’re trying to get them done. Get yourself sorted so that your “me time” can be as effective and joyful as possible.

3—Stay in a joyful state of mind.
    A
n overjoyed life is the best existence we can hope to achieve. It’s the kind of life that produces positive and feel-good energy, and it encourages us to look to the future with great dreams. True joy might seem like a fleeting emotion, even if you only feel it for a moment at a time, but you can hold onto it.

    4—Stop worrying.
    Happiness
can be much like love, it can have mysterious ways. However, science and psychology tell us that brain chemistry alters emotion. But in order to activate those chemicals, we have to talk about habits first.

There is a happiness formula that lies in changing thought patterns. Your thought patterns—what you do and think and say every day—determine how happy you stay. It’s got nothing to do with what’s around you, but everything to do with your thinkingyour inner voice.

    5Appreciate the small things.
We all have them; those small moments
that go unnoticed. What if we made it a habit to embrace and celebrate the little things? Real life is happening all around us while we’re waiting for the big thing we hope is going to give us some sort of inner peace, contentment or joy. Remember that all the little things add up to great things.

    6Stay around positive people.
You must realize that happiness is an individual choice. And every choice is influenced by other people in our lives. If you change your life power for the better, you can dramatically increase your chances for happiness and success.

I’ve found that positive social connection is the greatest predictor of long-term happiness and success. Welcoming a positive new influence into your world can be one of the most important choices for happiness you share.

    7—Laugh bigger and more often.
As you would know, laughing makes you feel good. Try to think about the last time you really laughed. Bemused with all of our grownup responsibilities, we adults just don’t express mirth as often as we did when we were kids.

Laughing can reduce stress, enhance immunity, improve blood flow and strengthen relationships. Bring laughter back into your life, if you don’t often enough. This will add so much to your life.

8—Love more often with more people.
A few Ideas about love >>

    Use words of affirmation.
When words of affirmation are your love language, words build you up. Helping others is the way. You thrive on spoken affection, praise, encouragement, and compliments. Harsh words and criticism can bother you for a long time.

    Helping others.
Anything that others do willingly to ease your workload is a sign of love to you. You feel cared for when your friend vacuums before you get to it or makes you breakfast as a surprise.

    Giving and receiving gifts.
When you speak this love language, a thoughtful gift shows others that you are special. In contrast, generic gifts and forgotten special events have the opposite effect. This love language isn’t necessarily materialistic – it could be as simple as receiving your favorite snack after a bad day. Just care about others.

    Quality time
Nothing says you’re loved like undivided attention from another person. When this person is truly present (and not looking at their phone), it makes you feel important. Failure to actively listen or long periods without one-on-one time can make you feel unloved.

    Physical touch
Holding hands, kisses, hugs, and other touches are your preferred way to show and receive love. Appropriate touches convey warmth and safety, while physical neglect can drive a wedge between you and your partner.

    9—Find joy.
See the world through a different lens. It’s the feeling of feeling completely in the moment. It’s being alive. As you can, enhance your overall well-being.

You see, happiness has two factors. The first factor is life satisfaction, which is the sense that your life is going well (you are the one in charge of that.) The second is the experience of frequent positive emotions, which include pride, curiosity, enthusiasm, tranquility, and joy.

    10—Plan your happiness.
    We put money
    away.
    We take vitamins.
    We exercise.

We hope these precautions will protect us as we age.
But as we safeguard our money, bones, and blood pressure, we forget to safeguard the one thing that can make a difference in the quality of our lives as we get older: our happiness.
Keep your joy and keep it growing throughout your whole life.

LIFE IS HAPPENING ALL THE TIME – ARE YOU KEEPING UP?

    MY DAILY JOTTINGS >>
9/10—A Saturday. What a distinctive find—we came upon an Arrowhead Orbweaver spider. It was magnificent, as you see from the photo.

9/11—Did not go to church again. Beth likes to relax on this day of the week, so I allowed her to do just that.

9/12—Today, I put up my 100-gallon rainwater collector. I was surprised at how quickly this did save water. I also built a filter, and we drank to our heart’s delight.

    9/13—
Off we went to get our wilderness fix. This much be accomplished at least once a week. Dorn Creek was our destination. Jemma did like this outing, much.

9/14—Beth and I are a three-car family (actually, two vans and a car.) We saw that we did not really need the car, so I gave it a good cleaning and fixed it up.

I guess I could have improved the car while we still had it. Strange to me that so many people will fix up a car or their house spectacularly when they are going to sell it. Why did they not do this for themselves when they lived in that abode?

That is something that Beth and I do continuously, fix up and improve the home we live in. Do you do the same?

9/15—A duck without a home, how terrible. We connected the person who was getting rid of the small duckling with the new home. We gave this little ducky friend a limo ride to his new home. Now all are happy.
